My first meal with Joo Ah at Dali Coffee was enjoyable. Even after lunch, we kept talking, and only reluctantly returned to the office, leaving our conversation unfinished. After brushing her teeth, Hae Yeon sat down and pulled a plastic container from her bag.

“Ms. Hae Yeon, is that a supplement?”

So Jung, who had just sat down in the neighboring seat, asked. Hae Yeon had started taking this medicine a few days ago, and noticing it, So Jung’s question made Hae Yeon’s lips curl into a smile.

“Yes. They say it’s good for maintaining my condition. Don’t you take something like this, senior?”

“That’s right. Contrary to how it looks, our job really demands physical stamina. I’ve been taking supplements since I was a rookie too.”

So Jung let out a soft chuckle. Smiling, Hae Yeon popped the small pill into her mouth with a sip of water.

In truth, this medicine wasn’t just a simple supplement as she’d told So Jung. It was a prescription treatment she’d received from the hospital a few days ago. She’d been taking it faithfully, but so far, it hadn’t shown much effect.

I won’t give up. Hae Yeon silently resolved, tightly screwing the cap back on the bottle.

Just as she began slowly preparing to get back to work—it was nearly time—the phone on her desk gave a short buzz.

‘Who could that be?’

She didn’t expect any calls at this hour. Picking up her phone, a smile naturally rose to her lips the moment she saw the name on the screen.

[Hae Yeon, did you eat lunch well? Don’t doze off after eating. Let’s meet tonight.]

A brief message, yet brimming with affection. As she smiled warmly, a sudden thought crossed her mind.

‘Should I go pick up Mr. Do Ha today?’

Ever since joining Dali Coffee, Do Ha had occasionally come to pick her up, but Hae Yeon had never once done the same for him. He always had a personal driver, and his secretary also drove for him, so the opportunity never arose.
