“Ms. Hae Yeon, have you finished everything I asked you to do yesterday? Some of it was difficult, and the deadline was tight, so I’ve been worried.”

“Oh, regarding that—I’ve already completed it.”

Hae Yeon replied respectfully and handed over the finished materials, causing So Jung’s face to instantly brighten. She turned toward their colleagues, gave a proud thumbs-up, and declared boastfully, “See? Our new colleague!”—only to receive some teasing in return.

“Wasn’t Lee So Jung the youngest on our team just the other day?”

Section Chief Choi Jung Hyun remarked with an incredulous look, prompting the staff to burst into quiet giggles.

“Don’t laugh, seniors. Ever since a new hire like Ms. Min Hae Yeon joined us, coming to work has actually felt worthwhile lately.”

“Oh dear, is that so? You act as if there used to be other juniors around. Lee, go properly finish the inventory count.”

Section Chief Choi assigned her a task as if pouring cold water on her, triggering another round of office laughter.

Amid the light commotion, Hae Yeon felt warmth in her heart. She knew not every workplace enjoyed such a pleasant atmosphere, and realizing this filled her with gratitude—a feeling that lasted until the end of her shift.

“Good work today.”

As Director Seol signaled it was time to leave, team members quickly exchanged farewells and hurried out together. Hae Yeon, among them, headed to the parking lot.

Her destination was the same restaurant where she’d met Yoon Ho before. The staff member on duty was the same as last time, so when she asked whether Yoon Ho had arrived yet, the man answered politely,

“He hasn’t arrived yet.”

Following his guidance, she entered the private room and saw neatly arranged dishes already set out. Yoon Ho must have given instructions ahead of time. Hae Yeon sat quietly in front of the food and waited. Soon, sounds of movement came from outside the door.

“I’m sorry. Traffic was a bit heavy, so I’m late.”
