On the weekend Do Ha went on a business trip and left her alone, Hae Yeon couldn’t stay still and kept bustling about restlessly.

As if trying to forget something, she tidied up the already-cleaned spot needlessly several times before finally sighing and plopping down onto the sofa.

“It’ll take some time. Until then, try to forget about this matter. You’ve even started working now, after all.”

That was what Yoon Ho had told her the day before they parted. Since the period of lost memory was roughly eight months, gathering case-related information would take a while—especially since they had to do it discreetly, avoiding Do Ha and Chairwoman Yoon.

At least Hae Yeon had declined Yoon Ho’s offer to compile and deliver everything himself, which shortened the timeframe.

Her decision to request the entire investigation report as-is came only after deep contemplation upon hearing Yoon Ho’s sincere advice. She understood his words and tried to think rationally, yet feared she might still waver when faced with reality.

Thus, she made her choice—to imprint every step of the process, even the smallest details, firmly into her memory.

“…Still, it’s impossible not to worry.”

Was being alone in such a large house making her dwell on things more? Unfortunately, Miss and Joo Ah both had commitments over the weekend, and no one else came to mind—proof of Hae Yeon’s limited social circle.

If only Mr. Do Ha were here. Hae Yeon thought inwardly. In truth, Do Ha’s absence had made it easier for her to meet Yoon Ho, and she knew having him around now would only stir up a whirlwind of anxious thoughts—but the wistful longing persisted anyway.

“Sigh… Might as well just sleep.”

The moment she realized Do Ha wouldn’t return until tomorrow evening, Hae Yeon’s mood darkened, and she decided to just go to bed. She threw herself onto the king-sized bed—feeling unusually vast tonight—and squeezed her eyes shut, hoping tomorrow would come quickly.

How much time had passed?

Darkness enveloped the bedroom, and even breaths could be heard. Contrary to her earlier worries about sleeplessness, Hae Yeon had dozed off almost instantly—a rare occurrence, since lately she either didn’t dream at all or couldn’t recall dreams even if she had them.

In her dream, Hae Yeon was trapped in a white void, seeing nothing. Though it was a brilliance that should have illuminated her vision, an inexplicable aversion made a pained sound escape her lips.
