Haeyeon stood still, watching Lee Soo-rin and Han Yoon-seo approaching, feeling her mind become a whirlpool of thoughts. Were these two close? She couldn’t quite grasp the situation. The combination of two figures, not particularly friendly towards her, reminded her of her recent encounter with Chairman Yoon.
“Why are you two here at this time? What an unusual combination. But more than that, it’s been a long time!”
Do-hee, having approached them, was both startled and excited. Indeed, it was a strange meeting. One was a busy corporate worker, and the other, often engaged in external activities, had not been in Korea for several years. Soo-rin, in the past, had only met Yoon-seo formally.
Why were they here, especially in a department store, a place for personal hobbies like shopping? Do-hee wondered but kept a bright smile, mindful of Haeyeon.
“Hello, Do-hee. It’s our first meeting since I came back to Korea.”
“Long time no see, miss.”
Despite Do-hee’s somewhat jumbled greeting, Soo-rin kindly inquired about her well-being, and Yoon-seo offered a formal greeting. Do-hee was speechless; this seemed like a happy accidental meeting.
“I ran into Yoon-seo here by chance. One thing led to another, and we ended up together.”
“Wow, what timing!”
Do-hee’s amazement made Soo-rin curl the corners of her eyes.

“Indeed, it’s a lucky coincidence.”
As Soo-rin’s gaze shifted subtly,
“Haeyeon?”
With the sound of her footsteps, Haeyeon appeared beside Do-hee. Advancing a step, Soo-rin’s smile deepened.
“It’s really fascinating, such coincidences. Right, Lee Soo-rin?”
Haeyeon’s lips curved into a smile. Anyone aware of the situation would know how contrived this meeting was. But Haeyeon played along with Soo-rin’s pretense.
“Wait, you two know each other?”
Do-hee, surprised at their familiarity, alternated her gaze between them. It made sense; Soo-rin had been abroad since Haeyeon’s marriage to Do-hee’s brother. Despite not attending the wedding, she seemed to know Haeyeon.
“We met before, miss. Nice to see you again, Lee Soo-rin. It seems we’re destined to meet like this.”
“Likewise, Haeyeon. I still remember our last conversation; let’s have more good talks this time.”

While the atmosphere appeared cordial, Yoon-seo secretly gave them a disdainful look.
“Aww, don’t just talk among yourselves. Include us too.”
“Okay, miss.”
“How about we go for tea? We’ve probably all had dinner by now.”
Yoon-seo suggested. Standing in the middle of the department store wasn’t ideal for prolonged conversations, so everyone agreed to move.
Entering a less crowded café, they ordered drinks and headed to a table. Haeyeon and Do-hee sat next to each other, opposite Soo-rin and Yoon-seo.
“Soo-rin unnie, why did you come to the department store?”
Do-hee asked Soo-rin, avoiding the awkward Yoon-seo. She repeated the question she had been curious about earlier.
Do-hee was well aware that Soo-rin wasn’t exactly free despite being in Korea. The thought of her, busy with the succession battle in the Mibon Group, being in a department store on a weekday evening was intriguing.
“I had someone important to impress,” Soo-rin said, an unusual remark for someone like her, who was often the subject of envy and jealousy. Do-hee’s eyes widened as she leaned in towards Soo-rin, who was sitting across from her.
“What do you mean? Someone you need to impress? Do you have someone you’re dating? Or someone you like?”

Soo-rin just smiled and didn’t answer, piquing Do-hee’s curiosity even further. Just then, the vibrating bell on the table, indicating their drinks were ready, distracted her.
“Ah! The drinks are here. I’ll go get them. Everyone, stay put!”
Do-hee hurriedly stood up and left. Once she was gone, Haeyeon turned her gaze to the opposite side. In her focus sat Yoon-seo, elegantly sipping her coffee.
“I didn’t expect your husband to be here,” Haeyeon remarked with a trailing voice, her eyes softly curving, changing the air once again.
“Whether it’s Chairman Yoon Myung-gil’s threat or Lee Soo-rin’s persuasion. Well, it could be both.”
“What are you talking about, sister-in-law? I’m here for this week’s event.”
Yoon-seo, a former announcer, always used formal language with Haeyeon, her junior, but her reply was surprisingly natural, with no attempt to hide any falsehood.
Yoon-seo’s mind was occupied with an event from a few hours earlier.
[Can we talk?]The message, arriving after breakfast with her husband Cha Do-hun, was unexpectedly from Lee Soo-rin. Yoon-seo felt troubled but, still indecisive after her unilateral conversation with Chairman Yoon, sent an affirmative reply.
Soo-rin was quick to call.

“Let’s skip the greetings, Lee Soo-rin. Why did you call? We’re not close enough to have a conversation like this, are we?”
Indeed, their relationship was more of an awkward one than a close one. Especially considering Yoon-seo’s one-sided anxiety. If Soo-rin were to become Do-ha’s wife, it would further jeopardize her husband Do-hun’s position.
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!
This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
