I met my husband’s mistress.
And realized.
That I couldn’t remember the past.
The call from the woman came late yesterday afternoon.
[Dash] I’m Lee Soo-rin.It was a name I had never heard before. Surprised by the unfamiliar name, I asked, “What?” and the woman paused before responding in an odd way.
[Dash] Cha Do-ha. [Dash] ……. [Dash] I’m his lover, me.When I heard this, it was a sunny day, really a leisurely afternoon. Suddenly, I heard the sound of a bird crying outside. Only then did Hae-yeon come to her senses.

My question, filled with displeasure, was met with the woman’s brief laugh before she responded with something unrelated.
[Dash] I’ll send you the location for our meeting via text. And then a precise mention of my name.
[Dash] Min Hae-yeon.Confounded and incredulous, Hae-yeon swept her hair back dramatically. A woman who not only mentioned ‘Cha Do-ha’ but also knew her name, claiming to be my husband’s mistress.
Calling back the number, the woman didn’t answer, only sending a message with the meeting place. Although the location was utterly realistic, Hae-yeon found it surreal. The whole thing was incomprehensible.
She mulled over the woman’s words again. No matter how much she thought about it, it made no sense. If the woman’s words were true, she was claiming to be Do-ha’s mistress, which seemed far-fetched. Both the fact that she was the mistress and that she admitted it herself.
After much contemplation, Hae-yeon decided she had to find out why Lee Soo-rin would make such an outrageous claim. It was too precise to be just a prank call, mentioning both ‘Cha Do-ha’ and ‘Min Hae-yeon’.
Moreover, the claim of being her husband’s lover was too disturbing to ignore.

On the day of the appointment.
Hae-yeon applied makeup more brightly than usual and opened her wardrobe. Instead of her usual favorite dress, she chose something different. After all, she was meeting a woman who claimed to love her husband, so she needed to prepare properly.
Dressed in a wide-legged pants suit, Hae-yeon, before leaving her house, stared intently into a drawer, then took something and headed to the café in Yeoksam-dong for their meeting. Scanning the tables, Hae-yeon was certain the woman sitting far away near the window was her the moment she saw her.
Her almost black, dark brown long hair and sophisticated makeup made her undeniably beautiful, and the most striking feature was her full lips. If Hae-yeon’s lips were a bit thin and pink, the woman’s lips were red and voluminous.
After briefly putting her hand in her pocket and then taking it out, Hae-yeon approached the woman’s table. The woman, recognizing Hae-yeon’s face, smiled as she approached, but Hae-yeon sat down without a word. They were not in a relationship to exchange friendly greetings.
“Lee Soo-rin?”
When Hae-yeon asked, the woman slightly smiled.
“Sit down, Min Hae-yeon.”
Her voice was as elegant as her appearance. Sitting down on a chair with a beige rattan back, Hae-yeon could feel the woman’s intense gaze. There was a brief silence, but luckily a server approached, easing the awkwardness a bit. The woman, with a cool-looking face, ordered something cold.
“I’m sorry. For calling you all of a sudden.”

It was Lee Soo-rin’s statement. It was an apology, but not in the sense of ‘sorry for the prank call.’ Just a simple apology for calling out of the blue without prior acquaintance.
“Why did you make that call?”
As I calmly asked, the woman’s response was astonishing.
“It’s been two years.”
A statement missing a subject. I wasn’t unaware of what the woman meant by ‘two years.’ But her mention of ‘two years’ had nothing to do with my marriage. Do-ha and I had been married for four years. According to the woman, it meant she had been with him for half of our marriage time. Was she asking me to believe such a statement?
Silence ensued. The silence was broken by the arrival of our ordered drinks. As each of our cups was placed, I picked up my coffee. The woman didn’t drink hers, just stared at me.
“You don’t believe it?”
The woman’s unexpected comment left me
The woman curled her lips into a smile. Despite her elegant voice, matching her appearance, Hae-yeon didn’t hide her perplexed look and responded.
“Wouldn’t it be stranger if I easily believed it?”
“Is that so? Maybe. You must think I’m shameless, right?”

The woman said this, gazing intently at Hae-yeon, her words not quite fitting the situation.
“I thought it would be better than continuing to deceive you.”
Hae-yeon, who had been returning the woman’s gaze with a blank expression, raised her thin eyebrows.
“That’s strange logic. You think it’s better to openly admit to an affair, and to the wife of the person involved, no less? Moreover, your words imply an intention to continue the affair with someone else’s husband. Isn’t that the epitome of shamelessness?”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
