My Husband's Cinderella (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 96
If yesterday had been merely a reconnaissance mission to assess the monsters’ origin and population, today was the day to truly purge them.
Knights, having filled their bellies with a hearty evening meal, emerged from their barracks to depart for battle. True to their noble upbringing, each was clad in expensive armor and led a well-groomed steed.
If chivalric spirit was the first element showcasing a knight’s pride, then costly equipment was the second. Additionally, each had tied a handkerchief around his scabbard—the third element being the exquisite, elaborate embroidery adorning those handkerchiefs.
Coon stared blankly at the neatly tied handkerchief on his sword. Only after the knights and horses blocking his view had passed did he turn around to survey the now-deserted scenery behind him.
Barracks clustered together like an anthill caught his eye. Among them was the one where Chloe stayed.
‘Will she be alright?’
Suddenly, he grew worried about his beloved, left alone in the barracks.
From one-eyed vermin to lowly rats who drooled at the sight of any beautiful woman—there were countless things weighing on his mind.
But the most irritating of them all was….
Sensing someone’s presence, Coon hastily turned his head. There stood a foolish knight, lingering nearby without having departed yet.
His frame was so gaunt and shabby it barely resembled that of a knight. His dull demeanor, trembling uncontrollably as if desperate to fall off his horse, only added to his pitiful appearance.
It was Kalis Arhen.
“What are you doing here?”
His face, previously clouded with worry, instantly twisted into open irritation.
Though the Hunt Festival sounded grand in name, in truth it was merely a punitive expedition to exterminate monsters. Too many participants would cause chaos, while too few would lack manpower—so only a select few of exceptional ability were gathered.

My Step-brother Is Obsessed With Me (Female-dominant)
A gentle female protagonist vs pitiful in the early stage, and a sick male protagonist in the later stage
Cheng Songer transmigrated into the body of a vicious cannon fodder female supporting character with the same name as her in a female-dominant novel.
In the original story, the cannon fodder female supporting character was inhumane, committing domestic violence, gambling excessively, being lustful, and even wanting to sell her stepbrother to a brothel for money.
As luck would have it, she just happened to transmigrate at this time.
Seeing Cheng Qingzhi biting his lip, enduring the tears in his eyes, looking pitiful, her heart softened.
She stuffed the money back into the Madam’s hand and reached out to him.
“Brother, come home with me.”

It seems to me that Kalis was not as attached to Helena as I had previously thought. He behaved as if utterly devoted to her initially. Did he even really mourn her death? He tossed her and their unborn child aside quite cruelly. I was surprised he behaved that way towards their child and Helena considering all he sacrificed to keep Helena in his life and at the estate. Perhaps he did not consider what he lost as a sacrifice but as things that were stolen from him by Chloe and now, the emperor. Helena too did not comprehend personal accountability nor being responsible for one’s own actions. Those two shared quite a few undesirable traits. The most surprising one being how entitled they behaved considering their stations.
He also will not consider the fact that Chole has no motive to kill Helena, nor will he consider a possible 3rd party as the murderer. (I am reminding myself it is not nice to call names or use insulting words towards people, even if those people are characters that do not exist in 3D.)
