Coon asked a very basic question. Chloe then pointed to the envelope she’d been clutching the whole time.
“I was going to send a letter.”
“A letter out of the blue in the middle of the night? It must be quite important.”
At first glance, his tone sounded as if he were scolding Chloe—reprimanding her for recklessly wandering about, unaware of the danger, all for the sake of that single letter.
In response, Chloe unhesitatingly affirmed it.
“Yes. It was extremely important.”
“I see. Leave it with me, and I’ll have a servant send it first thing in the morning.”
