Calis found Cloe sitting on an improvised bed inside the barracks.

As soon as she sensed his presence, she turned her gaze toward the door and soon displayed a bewildered expression at Calis’s arrival.

“What…”

Her steps, steadily approaching her, seemed unusual. The face, flushed with anger, vividly revealed his current emotions.

Despite resenting the world so much, the very person who threw him into the pit looked perfectly fine. The woman, who acted innocent while taking away all his happiness, seemed disgustingly insane.

“Yes, this is justified. As Duke Cedric said, it’s just about punishing the woman…”

Upon entering the barracks, he took out a vial from his pocket.

Easily opening the loose lid and lowering the bottle’s mouth downwards, the red liquid dripped onto the floor beneath the barracks. Before long, the empty bottle rolled roughly on the floor as the liquid seeped away.

Smelling the nauseating, metallic scent of blood rising from the floor, he aggressively approached the woman.

“Damn Cloe, you wretched woman who took everything from me… You should die…”

Having reached his destination, he ruthlessly grabbed Cloe’s collar. No matter how much Calis had eased off on training, overcoming Cloe was an easy task.

Her clothes got entangled in Calis’s hand. In her limp body, involuntary kicks flailed in mid-air, feeling a sense of strangeness.

He was infuriated by her constant resistance. Instead of being scared, her continued defiance against the man still aroused anger.

With a threatening voice, he eventually released his grip on Cloe. Her body, suspended in the air, hit the ground in an instant.

Calis muttered continuously in a small voice. The eyes, gradually approaching with an unsettling light, were so focused on Cloe, yet they seemed to have no clear focus, as if staring into empty space.

As he reached Cloe, he paused for a moment. The graceful lines dominating his gaze further fueled the heat in his excited mind.

When the shawl that had been clinging to her was removed, she appeared in a revealing negligee. The prominent hills under the negligee became noticeable.

In this intense situation, surprisingly, Calis was unexpectedly aroused. The provocative sight stirred the dirty instincts of Calis, who had embraced the woman for quite some time.

“Yes, a spear.”

In the silent space, a short sigh echoed. Bewildered breaths and the excited breaths mingled haphazardly, creating an ominous atmosphere.

“It would be a shame to kill her like this…”
Calis continued to whisper incomprehensible words as he reached out towards the woman’s body.

“Go away!”

Cloe quickly stopped the man’s hand. It was because she had read the impure gaze embedded in his hazy pupils.

However, Calis behaved as if he had truly gone mad. Rejecting the irritating touch, he forcefully pushed his dirty grip once again.

“Go, serve your former husband. Remember when we used to share the night together? The things you desired so much, I promised to do them before you die! Why, do you dislike me now? Is it because I no longer have wealth and honor? Ha, that’s a really vulgar thought!”

It was an absurd idea.

Even Calis himself, without realizing what he was shouting, continued to speak fervently, spitting out saliva.

Talking passionately to a man who was not in his right mind wouldn’t bring him to reason.

She quickly grasped the situation and stealthily moved backward at the moment when Calis, excited and losing his rationality, was spitting out words.

When her back touched the hard edge of the desk, Cloe reached over it and grabbed an arrow. She always kept a bow and arrows nearby, prepared for emergencies like this.

She then swung the arrow down towards the hot hand firmly gripping her leg.

“Ah!”

Fortunately, the man’s reaction was swift. He quickly groaned in pain from the sharp point embedded in his hand.
Calis instinctively raised his sword to strike Cloe. She used the arrow she held to shield herself, and thanks to the arrowhead hitting the blade, they avoided a disaster where the sword might have broken.

Normally, resistance that wouldn’t be easily accepted, or perhaps due to an injury to his other hand, Calis couldn’t finish off Cloe in one go.

Seizing the opportunity, she quickly pulled out another arrow and plunged it into Calis’s side.

“Ah! You, you…! I won’t let this go!”

In agony, like crying from the pain penetrating through the thick flesh, the man screamed.

It was the moment when Cloe, taking advantage of Calis’s dazed state, was attempting to escape from the barracks.

Crash!

A tremendous noise struck her ears, and when she regained her senses, the roof and door of the barracks had flown away.

“Groar!”

Through the torn wall, a large figure was visible here and there.
