“Cursed woman!”
After welcoming the departure for the knights’ demon subjugation, the central square of the mansion became deserted to the extent that not even an ant would pass by.
Calis, who had staggered on the street like a drunkard, managed to regain his balance.
“I’ll make sure she pays for this!”
He wanted to crush the face of the woman wandering in his mind right away.
Following Calis’s steps, the vial in his pocket rustled. When he stopped in the center of the square, he quietly gripped the vial.
As his tightly closed eyes opened, the vial also emerged into the world. The potion seeped through the warm cork opening.
Soon, along with the scent of fetid blood, an ominous atmosphere rose in the air. Although it was unclear what phenomenon was occurring, it seemed like evidence that the potion had taken effect.
After quickly closing the vial, he drew his sword. Then, disheveled hair, hastily rushing, and shouting.
“Oh no!”
A scream that overwhelmed the silent mansion. Following that, knights began to come out one by one. The first were the knights closest to the central square.
“What’s happening! Oh, you’re Lord Argent. What’s going on here? You should have all gone to the forest by now…”
“I felt a sinister sign, so I was worried that demons might rush to the mansion and came here.”
The suspicious knight who doubted Calis’s appearance then had a surprised expression.
“No! Demons?”
“If I could feel their power even from a distance, they must be quite fierce. It seems we may need reinforcements.”
Calis described his arrival with an anxious expression and no knowledge of sensing demons from the Sehir Empire barracks, abandoning the hunting party. Despite the fact that Calis lacked the ability and determination, the knight swallowed his words as the once-renowned war hero spoke with certainty.
“Yes! If reinforcements are needed…”
“Isn’t there a knight among the guards with excellent skills? Someone who has faced many demons!”
Calis explained as if he needed someone, pretending ignorance.
The knight, thinking of the same person in his mind, clapped his hands and shouted.
“Freihed! It would be Sir Winter Freihed.”
“If it’s Sir Winter Freihed, he’s reliable. Call him. I’ll take charge here until then!”
“Yes, yes. Understood. I will gather the others as well!”
“Good, hurry! I and the other knights will prepare for the demons!”
With his sword raised, Calis urged the knight. The desperate opponent started to run.
Several knights crowded into the noisy square. From the sentinels patrolling the mansion to the knights escorting the lady, everyone was busy following Calis’s orders.
And before long, the demons truly revealed themselves. Contrary to Calis’s description, it was a giant demon that they had never seen before in their lives.
When the large mouth opened, a deep groan emerged. Sharp and massive teeth and a rough body threatened those around. As the heavy footsteps, bearing my weight, approached, people’s faces turned pale.
“Everyone, be careful!”
A knight who ran to the front thrust his sword into the demon’s leg. It was a spirited action, but unfortunately, it didn’t leave a significant wound. A wholehearted blow only resulted in an irritating sigh from the enemy.
Soon, the demon’s ferocious roar followed. Whether it wasn’t painful or not, the demon relentlessly leaped towards the knight who attacked it.
“Ack!”
Losing instinct, the rampaging demon attacked the mansion. Without a chance to stop it, the mansions collapsed one by one.
It truly became a chaotic situation.
The attention focused on me was concentrated on that monster. Seizing the perfect timing, Calis moved his body.
He headed towards the mansion he had scouted the day before yesterday. If he searched thoroughly, he might find Cloe’s mansion.
“What, what is it?”
“Oh, my apologies. Excuse me, madam.”
As he pushed into the first mansion, he encountered a lady who was sitting and embroidering.
Startled by the sudden visit, the lady, who had flipped over, received Calis’s polite greeting. However, that didn’t justify his rudeness, so the lady continued to grumble from behind.
Escaping from the mansion as if fleeing, he searched the next place. This time, he found a mansion that seemed uninhabited.
After probing the last mansion among the candidates, he finally saw the woman he was looking for.
“Cloe!”
“This is Sir Winter Freihed!”
Someone shouted in front of the mansion in the middle of the night. Although they might not know whether it was the active time, the ladies residing in the mansion were currently in their sleeping hours. Was it because they didn’t know this crucial fact?
Even Cloe, who was dozing off beside her, was startled. Quickly covering the book on her knees, she made a questioning expression.
“I don’t know. I’ll be back in a moment.”
After reassuring her that it wouldn’t be anything serious, Winter came out.
He approached the person shouting in front of the mansion without knowing any rudeness and asked sharply.
“What’s going on?”
“Uh, well…”
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
