The intricately sculpted body that captured Cloé’s gaze was extremely provocative. The wet shirt clung tightly to the body, accentuating its graceful curves, soaked in water. Every breath revealed the prominent muscles, stimulating the visual senses.
It was a situation where coughing was inevitable, not only because of the cold.
“I’m okay… um, it might be cold, but don’t push yourself, Koon… Put this on. No, please put it on.”
“It’s okay, just keep it.”
“…I don’t want to.”
Unexpectedly, she rebelled, not typical of her. Koon’s eyebrows moved like ripples.
“As much as I don’t like getting caught in the rain, I… don’t like it either.”
Many words were omitted, perhaps because it was burdensome to speak a lot. Roughly, it meant that just as Koon was worried about Cloé, she was also concerned about him.
Koon looked at his shirt in Cloé’s small hands. He then grabbed the shirt, covering Cloé’s body with it once again.
Finally, Cloé glanced at him.
“Put it on.”
“Well, but…”
“I’ll warm up too.”
Muttering incomprehensible words, he suddenly lifted Cloé. Placing her snugly between his sturdy thighs, it became a posture reminiscent of a child holding a pillow while sleeping.
“This should do.”
Koon, who held her with one arm, slowly pulled Cloé’s chest backward. With the vigor in their bodies, it truly felt like their body temperatures were mingling.
‘But…’
The sensation of the opponent’s body, sticky and tangible, vividly felt the texture of the skin. The uneven curves of his body against her back made her feel embarrassingly exposed.
“Both of us are warm now.”
“…That may be true, but.”
“This way, there’s no need for both of us to worry about each other. So just stay still.”
“…”
“It’s not impossible. Between lovers.”
He emphasized the word referring to their relationship.
Lovers.
‘We are.’
Fake lovers.
The truth flashed through Cloé’s mind.
However, she didn’t have the courage to mention that fact.
She simply nestled quietly and touched the large hand that wrapped around her. There was no other special reason. She just wanted to convey her warmth to his still cold hand.
The incessant sound of raindrops now sounded mellifluous.
Moreover, inevitably, the slow heartbeat from the close chest of the opponent could be heard. The rhythmic beats brought tranquility at regular intervals.
Led by that sound, Cloé unconsciously turned her head. Once again, there was no other special reason. She just wanted to capture that sound a little closer.
The impropriety and rudeness of that action were only realized much later.
And when she realized it, Koon happened to be watching her.
“Uh, I’m… I’m sorry.”
Cloé turned her head awkwardly. The reddened face, heated from embarrassment, contributed to overcoming the cold.
In shame, her trembling chin was held by the large hand. Then, her head slowly moved, purely due to external influence.
Amidst embarrassment, they had to meet each other’s eyes. Could there be anything more difficult than this?
“It’s cold.”
“…Ar-are you cold?”
Surprisingly, the other person brought up a different topic.
“As expected, wearing a shirt…”
It was when she was about to hand him the shirt she was holding hesitantly.
Although Cloé’s hand moved first, the opponent’s hand was faster. Her hand, intending to make a move, was restrained.
“Not that. I wish you would warm me up a bit more.”
“…How can I do that?”
“Just like you. Embarrassingly.”
His handsome face gradually descended, aligning his eyes with Cloé’s. Slightly wet droplets dangled from his hair, swaying over her forehead.
“Yeah, embarrass me.”
With a teasing tone and a smile, he presented a contrasting, firm temptation.
Being no fool, Cloé quickly understood his request. There was one act worthy of making such an impure request.
Strange.
Now that there was no one around, and there was no one to doubt their status as lovers, let alone anyone existing at the moment…
Yet, the two of them continued to play the role of lovers. Forgetting that their relationship was like a dark smoke, they kept imposing it on reality.
‘Embarrassingly.’
Cloé, who was fidgeting her fingers, decisively wrapped her arm around the opponent’s neck. Then, the two faces met. It was unclear whether the opponent was drawing closer, or she was being pulled in.
When their noses, extending straight, collided, Cloé stopped.
‘Why am I doing this?’
Giving in to instinct led her to this point.
‘Is this madness?’
Lately, Cloé was undoubtedly strange. Among them, now was the most peculiar.
“Now, just stay still.”
The man’s growl reached her as she stood still. Only now did Cloé’s time seem to flow again.
“With just this, I’m giving you a chance.”
“…”
“So, choose. As always.”
The man’s red eyes glowed. Once adorned by Koon, the azure eyes were nowhere to be found.
A critical juncture.
Finally, she tightly closed her eyes.
“I’ll warm you up. For my cold lover… because I’m not someone indifferent enough to just watch.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
