Valentin stared at her silently, his back turned to the moonlight.

Unlike his tensed shoulders, his gaze was somewhat blank—as if he couldn’t believe what he’d just heard.

Or rather, dared not believe it.

The silence didn’t last long. His eyes, which had been scrutinizing Adel as though probing her sincerity, soon softened smoothly.

[You look exhausted. Let’s have a meal first…]

“I want to hold you.”

[Adel.]

“Right now.”

Valentin looked at his one and only companion with a mixture of exasperation and tenderness.

Though a faint smile lingered at the corner of Adel’s lips, her complexion was not merely pale—it was deathly white.

Her vacant eyes looked so doll-like one might almost believe she truly was one.

“Shall I undress you?”

When Adel saw he was speechless, frozen in place, she slowly untied the strap on her shoulder herself.

The loosened front of her garment parted, revealing her fair skin. As if entranced, he leaned forward and pinned both of Adel’s arms down onto the bed.

Adel continued to gaze up at him with the same unreadable expression.
