“Well, you said you were just going for a short walk—but you weren’t even visible nearby, and there are wild beasts roaming around… Everyone feared something terrible had happened to you both in the forest. Had you returned just a little later, a search party would’ve been assembled.”

Margaret poured out her complaints almost like a dragon spewing fire. Adel silently took a sip of her tea.

“Drink more. Finish it all. We’ll be departing soon, so this is your last chance to enjoy a warm cup.”

“We’re leaving so soon?”

“They say they just need to clear away a few more small rocks. Honestly, even if you two are utterly smitten with each other… you’re both in poor health as it is.”

At Margaret’s nagging, one of the maids tidying up the campsite nearby turned bright red. Adel quickly waved her hands in denial.

“N-no, it really wasn’t anything like that! We truly only went for a walk nearby…”

Adel stammered out her excuses, her face burning crimson.

She didn’t even understand why she had to make such excuses, but if she didn’t, Valentin was about to become known as the most shameless scoundrel in the realm.

Margaret narrowed her eyes and gave them both a knowing look, as if they were in cahoots.

Once Adel drained her cup completely, Margaret checked it carefully, then gently nudged her toward the carriage.

“…Quickly, get into the carriage. I’ll take the rest of this freshly brewed tea to our master as well.”

Relieved that Margaret’s scolding had finally ended, she climbed into the carriage.

A moment later, Margaret returned with an enormous blanket and wrapped her tightly from head to toe.

“It’s suffocating…”
