“What on earth happened?”

“Everything I know is exactly as I wrote in the letter. I added nothing and omitted nothing—only the facts I witnessed.”

“Good heavens. So are you truly saying that Grand Duke Ansgar has awakened from death? Not merely recovered from a fatal wound?”

Adel barely nodded. Her delicate face was as pale as a lily. Her eyes, sharpened by retracing the past, trembled faintly before collapsing downward. With great effort, Adel continued.

“If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, even I wouldn’t have believed it. The dead coming back to life—it’s too grim for a joke and far too bizarre for mere rumor.”

“But, Father Padre… you yourself know well how all of Denburg stirred at the news of His Grace’s passing.”

“It was unprecedentedly tumultuous. Even His Highness the Crown Prince expressed condolences for his cousin’s death.”

“I accompanied the coffin from the moment His Grace was taken north. Since no nails were driven into the coffin, anyone inside—alive or not—would have been immediately noticed.”

“……Are you certain? Did you open the coffin and properly verify the body?”

“Even when I double-checked one last time, there was no trace of life.”

She raised her trembling hand to press against her forehead.

“The night His Grace returned to life… everyone present in the reception room now acts as though they’ve forgotten that night entirely. They cheerfully celebrate His Grace’s return, raise toasts, laugh, and chatter as if nothing strange happened.”
