Adel bit her lip, her face frozen in shock.

The more she looked around, the more her hope faded into obscurity.

She poured every ounce of magic she had into illuminating her vision, but it was insufficient to pierce through the fog. Now, she could barely discern anything even a hand’s breadth ahead.

“Donovan!”

She raised her voice again with all her might, but only an empty echo bounced back.

She was utterly alone in this vast corridor—everything else seemed hollow and void. The realization sent chills crawling down her spine.

‘What happened? He was right in front of me just a moment ago.’

There were several possibilities she could imagine, but escaping this situation took absolute priority right now.

She clenched and unclenched her icy hands several times, barely suppressing her rising emotions.

‘If I make more noise here, I’ll only give away my position. I might even draw the attention of something… unpleasant.’

The thought that someone might be watching her from within the mist dried her mouth instantly.

She steeled herself and ran her fingers over the dagger hidden in her chest.

Then, stretching out her other hand to press against the wall, she began walking slowly forward.
