The Duke of Anschar’s coffin arrived precisely three days after the news. It had departed the battlefield at the same time as the messenger.

In the presence of a priest, Adel opened the coffin to confirm her husband’s face.

“…”

The body was well over ten days old. Rushed from the battlefield, there was no time for proper preservation. Despite being horrifically late, Valentine looked almost intact, as if he might come to life at any moment…

Adel, unable to take her eyes off Valentine’s face, asked the priest.

“Is this normal?”

“Normal?”

“Looking like he’s just deeply asleep…”

Adel trailed off. The priest didn’t read too much into her words and simply answered.

“It’s unusual for a body recovered from the battlefield. No apparent fatal wounds, and despite the heart and breath stopping, there’s no decomposition… It’s remarkable.”

Adel murmured, still fixated on the coffin.

“He looks as though he could come back to life any moment.”

“Perhaps it’s a grace from Morrig, the guardian deity of Anschar. Being the master of Anschar.”

It was a mythic story that the lords of Anschar were always protected by Morrig. She faintly nodded.

“Perhaps so.”
“If you’re done confirming, we’ll close the coffin now. Your Highness, I suggest you return to your quarters as soon as possible. From tomorrow, the schedule will be quite strenuous.”

Adel watched the priest close the coffin, engulfed in a strange mix of emotions. Her husband’s death was shocking, but it didn’t leave a profound wound on her soul.

It was a world full of noblewomen who lost their husbands to war. From the moment she married the Duke of Anschar, who frequently led battles as the commander-in-chief, her life had already been confined, almost like being trapped in a monastery.

The next morning, at dawn, Adel joined the priests in the carriage. It was due to the custom of draping a black cloth over the coffin and parading it around the domain when a lord dies. The Anscharians, gathering at every crossing the funeral procession passed, threw wreaths made of fir trees as a sign of respect.

The Anschar family ruled a third of the vast Bichleleben, requiring three full days just to travel through major cities with the central temple.

On the fifth night, after completing the long journey and returning to the main castle, the Duke’s coffin was moved to the central reception room.

“…that’s the rumor going around.”

Just as Adel was about to climb the stairs after ensuring the sarcophagus was placed, she overheard whispers in the upper corridor. Hesitating for a moment, she paused her step upon catching the topic.

“So the Duchess is a saint now? That’s absurd.”

“Still, to be so composed at such a young age.”

“She’s been holding up well. Quite admirable for someone so young.”

“You guys are funny. Already forgotten the old days? Remember how much damage that sham marriage caused to our Anschar?”

“That’s right… The Duke even sold his ancestral land to acquire a healer.”

Adel missed a part of the conversation as the voices suddenly lowered. After a brief silence, another maid spoke up.

“So, what happens to the Duchess now?”

“Unless there’s some unusual turn of events, she’ll probably take lifelong vows at the monastery. It’s up to the Duke’s brother to decide.”

In Denburk, a woman’s fate always depended on the men of her family. From father to husband, and if the husband dies, then to the son, or to the nearest male relative, and so on… a dreadful chain of dependency.

And the only brother of Valentine was Oscar. Adel swallowed the rising lump in her throat.

‘I should write to the diocesan priest expressing my intention for lifelong vows. Just in case, I need to proceed with it as soon as possible.’

Lost in her thoughts, planning her next steps, Adel suddenly noticed a shadow cast in front of her.

“Were you here?”

When yandere male lead believes she loves him — but she never did

“How dare you!”

“How dare you make me love you, only to cast me aside as nothing more than a friend?!?

“I will never accept that.”

“I will never let you return to him.”

“Even if I have to burn myself to ashes.”

“Even if I must shatter my purity, my dignity, my very soul.”

“I will never let you escape me!”

This was the first novel that introduced me to the matriarchal genre. I’ve read it three times already!

At first, the male lead despised the female lead. Later, he misunderstood that she liked him, so he condescendingly and reluctantly reciprocated her feelings.

Then, he suddenly discovered that she was kind to everyone in the same way, and there was already someone she cherished in her heart, and that person was not him.

The male lead couldn’t believe it, he became angry and crazy. He was determined to capture her body and heart by any means necessary.

Synopsis:

Want to see how a green tea bitch male lead falls in love with the female lead?

Want to see how he flirtatiously pursues the female lead?

Want to see how he gets slapped in the face repeatedly?

The male lead is a green tea bitch, a poisonous lotus, jealous, ruthless, unscrupulous, with a venomous heart, and he’s also a delusional maniac.

The female lead is righteous, positive energy-filled, kind, a holy mother.

Let’s see how two people with extreme personalities come together~
