“Your expression doesn’t look good.”

She weakly lifted her gaze from looking out the window.

Valentin, leaning loosely in the opposite seat, was staring at her. Adele was somewhat surprised that he seemed completely unfazed, especially after seeing such dreadful things just before.

‘Even though he saw such horrifying things just a moment ago.’

At that moment, Adele realized that she had seen something similar in Valentin’s shadow before.

“Just……”

Adele, avoiding his gaze, interlaced her fingers and said.

“I was just surprised.”

Unlike the heavily tense Adele, Valentin seemed calm as usual.

The brilliance that emanated from him when the Morig covered the world a while ago was already gone.

Adele clenched the hand she had placed on the armrest. She felt a bit queasy.

Valentin asked with a concerned expression.

“You don’t look well. Should I summon the carriage?”

“No, no……. Please go a bit faster instead.”

She wanted to get away from the Great War as quickly as possible. Valentin opened the window on the coachman’s side and instructed to speed up a bit.

Even the slight opening allowed the wind to come in, making the stuffy air feel a bit more breathable.

When he sat back in his seat, she cautiously asked.

“Valentin, are you okay?”

Seeing his puzzled look, Adele continued.

“Sometimes Morig descends. What if the trust comes down, and the high priests notice Valentin’s true identity? What would happen then?”

“Don’t worry. Morig is just anxious. If I don’t move, they won’t either.”

“…….,”

Adele’s lips lost some color. Valentin, with an indifferent face, loosened the necktie a bit more and replied.

“I won’t provoke you like this anymore. I may be greedy, but I’m not entirely shameless. Even if I try, it won’t be long before I get a backstab from behind.”

“…….,”

“I won’t involve Adele either. This is a problem between Morig and me. Adele doesn’t have to worry about it.”

“…….,”

“But your face still looks scared.”

“…….,”

“Now I’m scared too?”

When he reached out, Adele unconsciously flinched.

Valentin grabbed her cheek with a stern face. The voice seeping through the gap between clenched teeth was anxious.

“Don’t avoid it, please.”

She managed to face Valentin with a pale face.

Even in the dark carriage, his eyes were strangely sharp, like the eyes of a non-human beast.

Suddenly, a verse from an old theological book came to mind.

“The dragon of Bischelleben is a disaster and an end to humans. Those who pursue him will eventually become unhappy.”

She had never felt the eeriness of that sentence as much as today.
Previously, she thought of verses written by ancient people after witnessing floods or earthquakes as products of imagination, but since getting to know Valentin, she considered the data to be somewhat exaggerated.

However, ‘Morig.’ Now, seeing the power of the half that is his doppelganger and replicated him.

A hand of light crawling over people’s heads. The eeriness of that sight is probably something she won’t forget until she dies.

And at the same time, Adele realized.

Perhaps, whether it’s ‘Valentin’ or ‘Morig,’ mere humans would just stand by even if they were swept away by their powers.

‘Just like floods and storms don’t care about human affairs.’

Valentin, who was staring at Adele’s slightly trembling eyelids, suddenly raised the corners of his mouth.

“If you were going to be this anxious, I should have just left you safely in Ansgar Castle.”

It would have been better if it were possible. Since leaving Ansgar Castle, everything has been slowly falling apart.

Unable to grasp what to say, Adele half-smiled with a somewhat tearful face.

“How can you say that? Your Majesty called me……. ”

“You can keep doing that.”

To an unexpected answer, Valentin continued matter-of-factly.

“Just live the human life as if you can’t see or hear anything. It won’t change anything. Promise.”
Interestingly, the first thing that came to mind at those words was what Valentin had told me in the past.

“I hope you live your life to the fullest, see what kind of life you desired so much that you would abandon everything.”

Actually, the subject to hear such words from him wasn’t ‘her.’

Adele clenched her fist. She felt uneasy, like a thin sheet of ice that could break at any moment.

“Valentin, you’re adept at hiding the truth, aren’t you?”

“…”

“So, you never properly tell me the truth I should know.”

Valentin’s eyes widened at Adele’s candid remark. Eventually, he suppressed a laugh.

“Don’t you remember? I promised to tell you everything honestly when you’re ready.”

“When that time comes, you might deceive me with lies.”

Without realizing it, Adele retorted sharply, biting her lips.

She had long noticed that Valentin was hiding many things from her, and he rarely spoke honestly. Yet, she could endure it not just because of a promise but because she believed in what he showed her.

At least, she judged that Valentin’s affection for her was trustworthy.

However, looking back on today, she realized that, in the end, she knew nothing about him.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
