My Husband Fell in Love - Chapter 4
Let’s set the apology aside for now. He must’ve known someone was outside, so he wouldn’t have opened it anyway.
But even if she tried to think positively, the man’s behavior—holding her design book as though it were his own and staring blankly at Seo Ha—was clearly strange and impolite.
“Please give that back and step aside.”
After an odd standoff, Seo Ha was the first to speak.
“Do you have business in the President’s office?”
“Yes.”
“The President is currently unavailable. Please come back later.”
The words “Who do you think you are?” rose to her throat but were quickly swallowed.
“Did she go far? If she’s still somewhere in the building, I’ll go in and wait.”
“She’s in the building, but I haven’t been informed of any schedule that would allow me to let you in during her absence. Who are you, and where are you from?”
“I’m wondering the same about you. Who are you, and from which department, that you’re blocking the door like this?”
Instead of answering, the man flipped through the design book front to back, as if inspecting something suspicious.
“Give it here!”
Seo Ha snatched the design book roughly from his hands.
“That’s extremely rude. You demand to know someone else’s affiliation before even stating your own, and you pick up someone else’s belongings to examine them at your leisure. Just who do you think—”
“Team Leader Yoon!”
A sharp voice called out from down the hallway—Kang Hae Sun, Seo Ha’s biological mother and President of Kang Yoon Company.
“I didn’t know you were here. You should’ve called before coming.”
Hae Sun insisted on clear boundaries between personal and professional matters, so she always addressed Seo Ha by her title at the office. Likewise, Seo Ha always respectfully called her “President” whenever others were around.
“Good morning, President. I brought the new design to show you.”
“If you’re bringing a new design this early in the morning, it must be for your own brand, Team Leader Yoon?”
Hae Sun often repeated, like a mantra, that she wouldn’t hand over the company to Seo Ha until she saw her brand succeed.
“Yes. Please review it.”
“It’s not just a review—it’s a discussion. Design is entirely your domain, Team Leader Yoon, and I trust you completely. Come in.”
As Hae Sun turned her body, the man lightly bowed and stepped aside.
Seo Ha followed Hae Sun into the office, and their eyes briefly met. His gaze held no trace of even polite courtesy. She couldn’t understand why he’d look at her like that upon their very first meeting.
“Who’s that person? I’ve never seen that face before.”
Seo Ha asked as soon as the door closed.
“Oh, Secretary Ryu?”
“Secretary?”
Now that she thought about it—Secretary Choi, who had worked there for a long time, had recently resigned, and they’d hired a new secretary.
“Secretary Choi introduced him before leaving—Secretary Ryu Kyung Joon. I was worried he seemed too prickly for someone so young, but after watching him work, I can see why Secretary Choi brought him on board. He’s very sharp and capable.”
“Prickly people often do their jobs well.”
That was all Seo Ha said about Ryu Kyung Joon.
Her first impression was “rude and odd,” but business was business and personal was personal. Working in the fashion industry—where sensitive and eccentric personalities abounded—she had no desire to run straight to the President to tattle about a secretary’s impolite behavior.
Still, why had the secretary come out of the empty President’s office?
She brushed the fleeting doubt aside instantly. Simple tasks like tidying up or retrieving documents were part of a secretary’s duties.
Seo Ha placed the design book she’d been holding carefully onto the desk.
“Here it is, President. The new design.”
“Good job, Team Leader Yoon.”
Hae Sun, who had led the company in the fashion industry for years, had an eye sharp enough to easily overshadow most designers. Though Seo Ha was confident in her design, she nervously swallowed as she watched Hae Sun flip through the pages.
“Finally.”
Hae Sun closed the last page and smiled at her daughter.
“Kang Yoon Company is about to launch a new brand. Congratulations, Designer Yoon Seo Ha.”
A bright smile spread across Seo Ha’s face. She’d finally taken her first step toward the dream of every designer—the launch of her own brand.
“We should open a boutique in Cheongdam-dong. Invite VIPs and celebrities for a launch show. After that, we’ll go to Daejeon, Daegu, and Busan to open pop-up stores. Department store placements will come last. We won’t beg them to carry us—instead, we’ll make them come to us with offers. Can you do that, Yoon Seo Ha?”
Hae Sun, who had already drafted a launch strategy just from glancing at the design, truly was a born entrepreneur.
Seo Ha felt immensely proud of her mother.
Quick-witted, resolute, and confident—when Hae Sun had flatly rejected the acquisition proposal from the famous Daesung Group, Seo Ha had felt such overwhelming pride that her chest nearly burst.
“You’re asking me something obvious. Whose daughter do you think I am, Madam Kang?”
Trending
“Yes, yes. My lovely daughter.”
Hae Sun chuckled warmly and lightly patted Seo Ha’s backside.
“I’ll be waiting for the samples. By the way, you came with Seung Oh the other day, didn’t you? You should’ve called me before coming.”
That was the day Seo Ha had nearly choked on a savory pancake. She grimaced as the unpleasant memory, which she’d tried hard to forget, resurfaced.
“I thought you’d be home. But you weren’t there—only some strange woman.”
“A woman? What woman?”
Hae Sun looked puzzled.
“You know—Nan Joo’s niece. Her name was Ji Soo, right?”
“Oh, Ji Soo? I thought it might be good if you two became friends since she’s also studying design. What happened? Was she unpleasant?”
“Extremely.”
Business was business, and personal was personal. Fortunately, Lee Ji Soo fell squarely into the personal realm—someone about whom Seo Ha could complain freely to her mother without worrying about professionalism.
“She said she came to return borrowed clothes. But that was my outfit—you know, the one I bought in Europe during college, the one I treasure. When I asked where it came from, she was like…”
Seo Ha rambled on, spilling every detail of her frustrating encounter that day. Though she’d meant it as light venting, Hae Sun’s expression grew slightly serious.
“That really happened?”
“I felt like the bad guy! I was just minding my own business and got hit out of nowhere.”
After pondering for a moment, Hae Sun finally spoke.
“I’ll tell her not to come to our house anymore. You and Seung Oh should stay away for now too. Always call me before coming.”
“But she said she was visiting her own mother. Is that really okay?”
“Of course it is. It’s not her right to come and go from our house—it’s a courtesy we’ve allowed. Why should I extend courtesy to someone who upsets my child?”
“I just didn’t want you and Aunt Nan Joo to get into an awkward situation because of me.”
“Seo Ha.”
Hae Sun looked at her with eyes full of affection.
“The people who matter to me aren’t Ji Soo or Park Nan Joo—it’s you, Yoon Seo Ha. If something had gone wrong because of your fault, of course I’d fix it. But you did nothing wrong. I’ll make it clear to our relatives too—never again will they touch your belongings or enter your room without permission. Even if an empty snack bag rolls around in your room, it’s still yours—absolutely no one should lay a hand on it.”
“Hehe.”
Seo Ha let out a slightly silly laugh. It was such a comforting and happy feeling to know someone would always take your side, no questions asked.
Born with a silver spoon—Seo Ha had been gifted many things from birth, but nothing compared to having her mother.
“Head back down now. Take good care of that design and lock it tightly in your treasure chest.”
Hae Sun said.
The “treasure chest” was a small but sturdy safe. Seo Ha drew all her designs by hand with colored pencils and stored them inside, and only she and Hae Sun knew the password.
“Understood. I’ll be going now, President!”
Seo Ha bowed and left the office. Ryu Kyung Joon, was it? That strange man from earlier was still standing right by the door.
“Secretary Ryu Kyung Joon?”
At the sound of his name, that unfriendly look returned to his eyes. Undeterred, Seo Ha lifted the corners of her lips into a flawless business smile.
“I heard about you from the President. I’m Yoon Seo Ha—Head Designer and Team Leader of the Design Room.”
“Oh, right.”
She waited, wondering if he’d say more, but Ryu Kyung Joon truly seemed to have nothing beyond that single “right.”
Seo Ha shrugged and continued.
“We’ll be seeing each other often. Next time, please don’t block the hallway unless absolutely necessary.”
She expected another simple “right,” which would’ve let her end the conversation easily and walk away.
“Will you really enter the President’s office anytime without an appointment?”
Ryu Kyung Joon asked in a thoroughly unfriendly tone.
“So what if I do?”
“Even Managing Director Choi goes through the Secretary’s Office before entering.”
“But I—”
“I know. You’re the President’s daughter.”
When he said “the President’s daughter,” a faint, scornful smirk flickered at the corner of Kyung Joon’s lips.
“How does it feel—being the President’s daughter?”
“What’s your intention with that question?”
Kyung Joon leaned in slightly. His low voice whispered just a finger’s breadth from Seo Ha’s ear.
“I’m genuinely curious. You became Head Designer and Team Leader at such a young age, stroll into the President’s office like it’s your own room, and have already been promised your own brand launch. People like you, whose lives stretch out smoothly with not a single obstacle—what do you even think about every day?”

He straightened up again and gave a slight, mocking smile.
“That’s all.”
This prejudice was all too familiar to Seo Ha. No matter how well she studied, how skillfully she played instruments, or how talented she was in art and design, some people always concluded the same thing: Yoon Seo Ha had a silver spoon.
So she wasn’t angry or flustered at all.
“What’s there to think about? Well, if I must say—”
Seo Ha lifted her right hand slightly and gave a quick little wave. Drawn by the gesture, Kyung Joon leaned in again, bringing his ear close to her lips.
“I’m fucking thrilled.”
Kyung Joon’s eyebrows twitched slightly. Seo Ha added clearly, in an even lower voice,
“Long live the silver spoon. In my next life, I’ll be born with one again and drive down a smooth highway with the convertible top down!”
“…”
Kyung Joon straightened up and stared at her as if he’d seen a ghost.
“Do you always speak in such vulgar terms?”
“Just like Secretary Ryu always acts so rudely.”
“Aren’t you worried about your reputation?”
“Just like Secretary Ryu isn’t worried about getting fired.”
“What if I spread rumors?”
From a very young age, Seo Ha had trained herself to maintain perfect, textbook composure—she’d learned too early that it was the only way to avoid unnecessary scandals.
“Go ahead and spread them energetically. ‘Yoon Seo Ha was so fucking thrilled she started bragging about her silver spoon.’ Do you really think people will believe that?”
That was why she could be absolutely certain.
From Seo Ha’s perspective—the “fake” Seo Ha—the composed mask Ryu Kyung Joon had been wearing visibly wavered. He’d launched the first strike but clearly hadn’t expected a counterattack.
It was time to retreat.
“Then I’ll take my leave. Good work, Secretary Ryu!”
Before Kyung Joon could respond, Seo Ha walked briskly down the hallway, her heels clicking cheerfully. Kyung Joon watched her retreating figure until the elevator chime sounded, then murmured quietly to himself.
“…You’re still as damn annoying as ever, Yoon Seo Ha.”
When the male lead is punished by carrying the female lead’s child and having periods like a woman
“I’ve given birth to two children for you, yet you still think about him.
Was I nothing but his substitute to you from beginning to end?”
