My Husband Fell in Love - Chapter 11
Everything was gray. Her body shot forward rapidly, against her will.
Seo Ha soon realized she was lying on a hospital gurney, being rushed somewhere. People shouted frantically all around her, their voices buzzing painfully in her ears.
“Seo Ha!”
Among the chaos, a familiar voice cried out her name, choked with sobs.
“Please wake up! Open your eyes, I beg you!”
Out of all the noise, only his voice struck her heart with crystal clarity.
Lee Seung Oh.
My husband, my first love, and…
“Honey! Honey! Seo Ha!”
Barking away like a damn mutt.
Like a filthy dog, he screamed her name hysterically. She genuinely wanted to jump up right then and slap that smug mouth of his—she even regretted not hitting him back at the café.
“Seo Ha! Seo Ha, our daughter!”
Mom.
Seo Ha strained with all her might to open her eyes.
“Seo Ha, it’s Mom. Hey? Seo Ha, please open your eyes. My girl, please… please just open your eyes, Seo Ha!”
Don’t cry so much, Mom. You’ll get a headache from all that crying. I’m fine, really. I’ll get treatment and be up in no time.
“Doctor, please save my daughter! I’ll pay anything—any amount you ask! Take whatever you need from me—organs, blood—just give it to my daughter! Please, Doctor, save her…!”
Hae Sun wailed and pleaded desperately to the doctor, sobbing incoherently. Seo Ha never imagined her mother—widowed young and having single-handedly held together both company and home—would crumble like this.
It’s all my fault. If only I hadn’t driven the car…
Her heart tore open with regret and guilt.
“7:20 p.m.—Yoon Seo Ha—”
A heavy voice pierced through the wailing, announcing her name.
“… has passed away.”
What did you say?
“Seo Haaaaa!”
Lee Seung Oh let out a thunderous, gut-wrenching cry. Immediately after, Kim Ok Soon’s scream followed.
“Madam! Please regain consciousness! Madam!”
“Step aside! She needs to lie down on the bed!”
“Mother-in-law! Mother-in-law!”
Apparently, her mom had collapsed too. Seo Ha was furious. I’m right here alive! She could feel everything—Lee Seung Oh’s sobs, the doctor’s condolences, even the fluorescent light shining through her closed eyelids.
She suddenly remembered a news story she’d once seen—about someone pronounced dead while unconscious, nearly buried alive, only to be discovered just in time and saved.
Her situation was far worse than that news story. Not burial—cremation. She was about to be burned alive.
Mom, I’m alive. Really, I’m fine. Wake up. Don’t cremate me.
Seo Ha desperately tried to signal she was alive. She focused every ounce of strength into her eyelids and stiff fingers.
Move, Yoon Seo Ha. You have to move!
Even the tiniest twitch would be enough. Being burned alive in a coffin was unimaginably horrific.
Perhaps her effort worked—suddenly, a loud voice rang out.
“Doctor, over here! Jo Seo Ha’s finger just moved!”
“Confirm vital signs! Prepare for emergency surgery immediately!”
Seo Ha didn’t know who Jo Seo Ha was, but right then, she deeply envied that person sharing her name.
Lee Seung Oh kept sobbing, his grief clearly feigned. Her mom still hadn’t regained consciousness. Overwhelmed by stress, Seo Ha’s mind suddenly succumbed to crushing drowsiness, as if trying to escape.
“Huh? Doctor, Yoon Seo Ha’s vitals…!”
Through her foggy haze, she thought she faintly heard her own name.
***
“Ryu Kyung Joon. Ryu Kyung Joon.”
Lee Seung Oh muttered the name, staring at his miraculously still-functioning phone.
While “Kyung Joon” wasn’t rare, the surname “Ryu” certainly was. If there was one Ryu Kyung Joon even remotely connected to Yoon Seo Ha, it could only be—
“Secretary Ryu Kyung Joon.”
“Huh.”
Lee Ji Soo placed a fruit plate on the table, her face etched with worry.
Trending
“Y-your master’s secretary? Tall, fair-skinned guy?”
“Have you seen him?”
“Yeah. I—I’ve seen him greet you a few times outside our house. Um, and… also…”
“And?”
Seung Oh pressed impatiently. Lee Ji Soo reluctantly continued, as if she couldn’t help it.
“I-I’m not entirely sure… but that day, at the café—I think I saw him. He was sitting at another table, maybe… You were too nervous, and I only glanced sideways, so I can’t be certain…”
“What? Why are you telling me this now?!”
Stunned, Seung Oh shouted without thinking. Ji Soo’s eyelashes trembled.
“I-I’m sorry. I thought maybe I’d misseen it, and everything’s so chaotic…”
Her downcast eyes, unable to speak properly, looked pitiful. Seung Oh instantly regretted yelling and gently consoled her.
“I’m sorry. I wasn’t mad at you.”
“I know. It’s okay if you’re angry.”
“I said I’m not angry.”
Seung Oh stared at his phone, lost in thought.
Why was this in Yoon Seo Ha’s car?
He bitterly regretted having removed the dashcam memory card long ago—just to hide his affair with Ji Soo.
“U-um… Oppa. Maybe…”
Unable to bring herself to state the obvious, Ji Soo gently took Seung Oh’s anxious hand.
“This is just—really, really just a tiny possibility. But if this truly is Secretary Ryu’s phone, and it was found in the young lady’s car… maybe they were… um… involved? You know… deeply?”
Her voice grew smaller and shakier toward the end, yet to Seung Oh, it rang loud and clear.
“… Yeah. That would make sense.”
As Lee Seung Oh muttered, lost in thought, Ji Soo’s eyes sparkled briefly before returning to their usual gentle softness.
“I-I mean, it’s possible. But don’t suspect her. After all, the young lady’s in terrible pain right now.”
“Pain? She might as well be dead—though technically she isn’t. What the hell were those idiots thinking?”
“Huh?!”
This time, Ji Soo gasped aloud.
“What do you mean? O-oppa… you don’t mean the young lady—did you…?!”
“Shh.”
Seung Oh covered her mouth with his hand and smirked.
“Don’t worry. There’ll be an emergency board meeting tomorrow, and I’ll be the only one stepping in as interim president.”
Ji Soo’s eyes widened.
“Mmmph?! Mmm…!”
“You wanted to do design, right? I’ll make it happen. How about Designer Lee Ji Soo?”
Ji Soo gave a small nod. Seung Oh slowly removed his hand.
“Oppa…”
Seconds later, Ji Soo leaped into his arms, exclaiming:
“Thank you, Oppa! My dream’s finally coming true—all thanks to you! You’re the best! You’re the greatest gift in my life!”
“You’re not even stuttering now?”
“I-I won’t stutter anymore! I’m Designer Lee Ji Soo now!”
So simple. So cute.
Seung Oh watched Ji Soo bounce like a child who’d just gotten a Christmas puppy. Meanwhile, his mind raced with thoughts of Yoon Seo Ha and Kang Hae Sun lying in the hospital—and the phone sitting before him.
Kang Yoon’s shares were split between Kang Hae Sun and Yoon Seo Ha. If both died, the sole inheritor would be none other than himself.
‘But if Yoon Seo Ha wakes up…’
It’d be perfect if she just stayed dead—but he had to consider the chance she might awaken and shove those damn divorce papers in his face.
Seung Oh tucked the phone into a thick document envelope and hid it deep inside a drawer—just in case Yoon Seo Ha woke up, so he could use it as proof of her infidelity.

Limbs wrapped in bulky casts, a face crusted with dried blood like barnacles, and an oxygen mask obscuring half of it.
And a name tag that clashed utterly with the scene.
The woman who’d tossed divorce papers at her unfaithful husband, laughed gazing at the ocean, sparkled while sharing dreams, and—despite being drunk—walked with perfect, charming steps… now lay in utter ruin, seemingly dead.
“Ms. Yoon Seo Ha.”

Kyung Joon called her name pointlessly, knowing she couldn’t hear. The sound swirled through the air and pierced a hole straight through his chest.
Plop.
A heavy tear dropped from his chin onto the floor. It had been so long since his heart ached like this—maybe never, not even once since birth.
“This won’t do. It’s a problem.”
Kyung Joon closed his eyes briefly, trying to purge all emotion from his thoughts.
Yoon Seo Ha had “nearly died.” After being declared dead, vital signs were detected, but she immediately slipped into a coma. The shock had also felled President Kang Hae Sun, who still hadn’t regained consciousness.
All this happened just yesterday. Other executives had rushed over and already left, but Kyung Joon arrived a day late—because he’d lost his phone.
The door behind him opened. Kyung Joon hastily wiped his eyes and turned—nearly cursing aloud.
“Secretary Ryu?”
That imbecile recognized him with a suspicious look.
“What brings you here? The President’s room is upstairs.”
Kyung Joon wiped all trace of contempt from his face, offering his usual blank nod.
“I came down since I was already here. I have some acquaintance with Team Leader Yoon.”
“I see. Thank you for coming.”
He’d already heard his lost phone was found in the accident vehicle. Yet suspiciously, Lee Seung Oh hadn’t mentioned it once—only speaking of other matters.
“As you know, between my wife’s accident and my mother-in-law collapsing, I’m completely overwhelmed. You’d know the President’s office matters better than anyone, Secretary Ryu.”
“I suppose so.”
Lee Seung Oh yanked the curtain open beside Yoon Seo Ha’s bed and slumped onto the sofa.
“Now that we’ve met, I’ll give you advance notice: a replacement will arrive within the week, so prepare for handover. A secretary, whether liked or not, works closest to the president—I need someone who truly fits me. Consider it a reassignment, not a dismissal.”
He already strutted around as if he owned the presidential office.
Wait—the presidential office?
A faint crease formed between Kyung Joon’s brows.
Yoon Seo Ha had suffered a massive accident—exactly one day after handing divorce papers to her only heir, her husband. Could that really be just an unfortunate coincidence?
“Secretary Ryu? Aren’t you going to answer?”
Lee Seung Oh pressed again. Not a trace of grief for his wife’s vegetative state showed on his face.
—‘I’m married. Stay away from me. My husband is so…’
He remembered Yoon Seo Ha, even drunk, vigorously waving him off as a married woman. That woman—acting so clever yet the biggest fool in the world.
A foul mood surged through him.
“Lee Seung Oh.”
Hearing his name spoken with oddly rude familiarity, Seung Oh flinched.
“Is that really all you have to say? Nothing you’re curious about… regarding me?”
Recovering from his shock, Seung Oh retorted irritably:
“What do you mean, Secretary Ryu?”
“You must be damn curious inside—so why don’t you ask?”
Kyung Joon smirked, leaning down to peer crookedly into Seung Oh’s eyes.
“After all, you picked it up from Yoon Seo Ha’s car—my phone.”
