“What did you just say? CEO, who do you think I am…?”
Kyung Joon, who was so startled, could barely speak properly.
“Why is that, Assistant Ryu?”
Hae Sun asked while looking straight at Kyung Joon. His expression changed from surprise to bewilderment, and then to joy.
“It’s nothing. CEO, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Kyung Joon politely bowed to Hae Sun.
It was a funny situation. The soninlaw was trying to seize any opportunity to buy and sell the company, while the spy who infiltrated the company was sincerely serving Hae Sun like that.
Seo Ha escorted Kyung Joon to the entrance of the descending stairs. If she ever returned to being Yoon Seo Ha, she wanted to express her gratitude.
The design room was always busy, but when preparing for a product review meeting, it was literally a battleground.
Designers worked overtime repeatedly, with dark circles under their eyes reaching their knees. The sound of sewing machines running from dawn to midnight never stopped, and meals were always kimbap, sandwiches, and lunchboxes.
Busy with preparing for the product review meeting and being the youngest, Seo Ha was two, three, or even four times busier than others. She shouted as she put down a box she had just received from the pattern room.
“The patterns are here!”
When a designer sends a work order, the pattern room creates patterns accordingly. Only then can a sketch become an actual sample.
Everyone rushed to get the important patterns. After everyone else had taken theirs, Seo Ha looked into the box to find her own pattern.
“Huh…?”
It wasn’t there. It should have arrived today to match the schedule.
Confused, Seo Ha went around to the designers who had just taken their patterns and checked them one by one.
“Seo Yeon, can I see your pattern for a moment? Seo Yeon, by any chance, the pattern…”
After making a full round, the last person was Lee Ji Soo.
“Team Leader, can I take a look at the pattern you just took for a moment?”
“Sure. Why, is there something wrong?”
Lee Ji Soo smiled brightly and patted the pattern spread out on her desk. Seo Ha quietly thought to herself while looking at Ji Soo’s smile, which seemed to be filled with ease and a sense of victory.
She’s being a pain again.
“The pattern room didn’t send mine, so I thought it might have been mixed up.”
“Oh, dear. Did the others all arrive? There must have been a mistake in the pattern room. You should contact them quickly.”
She seemed completely oblivious to the fact that her feigned concern was evident to the other team members.
This is how she drove out designers she didn’t like, one by one. That’s why, in just three years, all the designers who had built Kang Yoon with her had disappeared.
“Yes… I understand.”
Seo Ha replied with a deflated voice and returned to her seat.
Ji Soo couldn’t help but laugh as she watched Seo Ha’s retreating figure.
There’s no point in contacting the pattern room now. She had already intimidated them not to accept any work orders under Jo Seo Ha’s name.
If she tried to create dozens of patterns herself within the already limited time, she wouldn’t even be able to complete them for the product review meeting, let alone maintain the quality.
Do you think I came this far without any skills, relying on the backing of a married lover? No. I eliminated, cut off, and stepped on people like you, and that’s how I became the team leader with my own strength.
While Ji Soo watched, Seo Ha returned to her seat and called the pattern room. The result wasn’t much different from what she had expected.
“No, you sent the same to everyone else, but mine is missing. How can that be possible?”
[It’s not that it’s impossible, but it will take more than a week.]“That’s what I’m saying. Don’t you know how busy we are right now?”
[We’re busy too. Please understand!]The call was coldly disconnected. Seo Ha stared at the disconnected phone for a while, then picked up her bag and stood up.
“I’m going to Dongdaemun.”
No one paid any attention since Dongdaemun was a place where they had to visit more frequently than the office.
Seo Ha soon got into a car heading to Dongdaemun. Not a bus or a subway, and certainly not a taxi.
“What’s going on all of a sudden? Do you think I’m Jo Seo Ha’s secretary?”
Kyung Joon grumbled but skillfully turned on the turn signal and merged into an empty lane.
“Please help me out. It’s for the company. You know I’ve been taking good care of the CEO.”
“……”
Lee Seung Oh still hadn’t filed a missing person report for Hae Sun. It meant he had no intention of actively searching for her.
So, no one knew what would have happened if Seo Ha hadn’t found Hae Sun back then.
The place Seo Ha took the silent Kyung Joon to was Dongdaemun. Naturally, there were many skilled pattern rooms scattered amongst the various factories and design studios in this area.
“Over there.”
Seo Ha’s eyes sparkled as she found their destination after winding through the twisted, spiderweblike back alleys.
Kang Yoon had started in Dongdaemun. Before the company grew and owned its own building, and before hiring professional pattern makers, all of Kang Yoon’s product patterns came from this old pattern room.
“What is this place?”
“Lee Ji Soo played a trick, so I can’t use the company’s pattern room. We have enough money for outsourcing, right?”
Seo Ha, dragging Kyung Joon with her, knocked on the door. It didn’t take long before the door swung open without a response.
“Who is it?”
An elderly man with a nervously thin face poked his head out through the open door gap.
“Hello. We’d like to request some pattern work.”
“We’re too busy. Go find someone else.”
“Wait a minute, sir!”
Seo Ha quickly inserted her foot into the gap as the door tried to close unfriendly.
“Ah, I told you we’re too busy!”
“If you can finish it by tomorrow, I’ll pay you double the rate.”
“Go find someon.”
“Triple.”
“Come in. Would you like a cup of coffee?”
“I’d be grateful.”
As Seo Ha hurried to follow, Kyung Joon grabbed her shoulder and whispered.
“Why are you offering to pay triple the rate?”
“Don’t act like you don’t know. It’s customary to pay more for sameday work, and especially here, Master Park is a staunch capitalist.”
“Master?”
Inside, Master Park yelled for them to come in quickly. Seo Ha quickly pulled Kyung Joon inside and closed the door.
Lee Ji Soo thought Seo Ha would have to cry and stay up all night to create the pattern, but Seo Ha had experienced it all in this field and had even risen to team leader.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
