“Achoo!” The Emperor, leaning against the sofa in the Empress’s chamber, sneezed loudly.

“Your Majesty, could it be you’ve caught a cold?”

“No. My nose just itched.”

Had Serena been present, she surely would have thought someone else was speaking of the Emperor. In truth, at that very moment in Astel, two people were deeply pondering the friendship between Richard and Roger—so there was indeed basis for such a thought.

“I wonder if the Duke has arrived by now?”

Empress Adelaine merely shrugged her shoulders. From her experience, interfering in men’s conversations was tedious, and especially when the other party was Duke Astel, it was far more peaceful simply not to listen at all.
