“Are you really not going to open it?”

Cedric had asked several times out of curiosity, but Lucas always shook his head.

“How many times must I say it? I intend to open them all together when the concerned party is present.”

Of course, Lucas had some confidence on his side.

Though he couldn’t be sure about his father, his mother had always understood him without a word—and thus was highly likely to have approved this matter. Moreover, during his travels, he had settled a few debts with the Papal See, so they too would likely have taken his side.

“Your Highness, regardless of the others, there’s no guarantee Duke Astel will cooperate.”

“Yes. He’s an inscrutable man.”

Lucas nodded.
