The humiliation in the morning was just the beginning.

The Duchess told Serena to put away all the dresses she brought, claiming they were inappropriate. She instructed her to wear one of the young Duchess’s dresses and attend etiquette lessons instead.

However, there was no way that a dress that barely fit the frail-looking Lora could fit Serena’s frame.

“I don’t understand.”

Muttering, Serena looked at Lora’s dress that appeared like a baby’s outfit.

“Exactly… it’s obvious it won’t fit.”

Anna cautiously spoke. Ever since Serena had been sick with a fever right after her engagement ceremony, she had confidence in her healthy body. However, during her adolescence, she was extremely self-conscious about her larger-than-average frame.

“Young Duchess Lora is very petite. Plus, she’s only 18.”

“Anna, that’s not why I’m upset, so don’t worry.”

Serena smiled, and Anna nodded in relief.

Now it was all in the past, but Serena once fainted from hunger after seeing the ceremonial attire the former queen wore before her own engagement ceremony.

Afterwards, having narrowly survived a fever, Anna believed it was an event that should never happen again.

“What I can’t understand is the Duchess’s strangely aggressive attitude.”

Anna agreed.

“The royal engagement is set, and I’ll be the crown princess. It’s all a done deal and I’ll be here for less than two weeks.”

Two weeks was woefully inadequate to transform someone. So, the Duchess’s fervor about teaching her etiquette was merely an excuse.

“I understand there’s pressure since I’m related to the Astels and have an important role in the royal engagement. But how much can I change in just two weeks?”

It was a valid point.

“The Duchess seemed intelligent. There’s no way she doesn’t know what I know.”

The Duchess and young Duchess Lora that she saw yesterday were textbook examples of the aristocratic poise that society aspired to.

Especially, Lora at 18 displayed a calm and elegant demeanor, displaying impeccable etiquette. Surely, the Duchess had painstakingly taught her each and every thing.

“Royal etiquette might be different, so maybe she’s just being cautious.”

“Anna, don’t make excuses for her. Do you really think that she believes anything could change in just two weeks, given how she raised her daughter?”

“That’s true.”

“Maybe she’s contemptuous, looking down on me.”

Serena was spot on.

“No way, she shouldn’t.”

Kind Anna shook her head, but Serena recalled Miranda’s strangely gleeful face.

“Then whose voice was mocking me at the engagement ceremony?”

“Miss, don’t listen to those people.”

“I know. I’ve lived like that.”

Serena refused to squeeze herself into the tiny dress, instead tailoring a dress that fit her healthy, tall, and slender body.

Her posture straightened as a result; her bent waist and hunched back all stood tall and proud. Once the reflection in the mirror changed, her emotional state naturally followed.

“Our Astel children always tell me they want to be tall and robust like me.”

Why didn’t she realize it in her previous life? It wasn’t the clothes that didn’t fit her; it was the mentality and preconceived notions that were the problem.

Also, the one that tormented her most wasn’t society’s gaze or finger-pointing, but her own self-critical eyes when she looked in the mirror.

“I like myself the way I am. I’ve even felt smug when the children said that.”

For the first time since she arrived at this mansion, Serena showed a genuine smile. Remembering the cheerful and innocent Astel children gave her strength.

“Right… I can’t be defeated by a mere Duchess.”

It wasn’t bragging, but Serena had fought against many things so far. Granted, her indifferent father and her noble birth were lucky, especially compared to her previous life without such benefits.

“According to the etiquette that the Duchess loves so much, I outrank her, don’t I?”

“Indeed. You’re practically the crown princess already, so the Duchess should be the one showing respect.”
“Even if it’s not a matter of social standing, I have no reason to be upset with that lady.”

Social standing was indeed important in this world.

However, the dignity with which she had turned away the persistent overtures of Duke Farell and even dared to defy the Crown Prince was thanks to her self-found self-esteem.

That was an emotion she discovered by becoming not just a tall ornament, but a helpful presence for people.

“There’s no reason to succumb to such trivial intimidation either.”

No matter how she thought about it, the Countess’s demeanor was far removed from a kindly smile. It felt as if she aimed to stifle Serena’s future role in high society as a princess consort.

“I need to take the initiative first.”

Serena muttered, eyeing the tiny dress Lora was wearing. She had anticipated a confrontation with the Crown Prince when she left Astel, but the path to Lucas was unexpectedly difficult.

He had disregarded the law and spontaneously come to the Astel territory, showing restraint in his conduct, so perhaps the world had falsely assumed it was easy.

Male lead is a Destined Young Husband (Female-dominant)

One-sentence summary: Wife-master, listen to my explanation!

Li Ruantang, a young lady from a prestigious family, stumbled and fell. When she woke up, she saw a noble and beautiful young man sitting by her bedside, wiping away tears.

The young master had slightly reddened eyes, and his every move exuded charm.

The sight made Li Ruantang’s eyes hot and her heart flutter. After all, she had made a bet with the young master Meng from the neighboring family. If she couldn’t marry a husband before the end of the year, she would have to admit defeat and give up the jade she had worked so hard to obtain.

Outside the window, the flowers were in full bloom.

Rather than losing the bet, the jade, and her face, Li Ruantang calculated that it would be better to seek marriage with the young master in front of her, killing three birds with one stone.

…

Meng Jun never thought that an accident during a spring outing would lead to them rolling down a cliff and into a river, yet still survive.

Now they were trapped in an unknown village, and Meng Jun had overheard that the family who had rescued them had their own intentions.

After all, it was Li Ruantang who had lost her mind and sought marriage first. He was only trying to protect himself!

Glancing at Li Ruantang, who was listing her own merits, the young husband’s voice softened, and he blushed as he lied, “W-wife-master, Wife-master, don’t you remember me?”

The young husband’s voice was clear and handsome, coaxing Li Ruantang’s heart to be soft and sweet, and she spared no effort to protect him.

It wasn’t until they returned to the capital that Li Ruantang suddenly remembered.

When they had fallen off the cliff, in order not to implicate Wei Yunruo, whom he secretly admired, the young husband had instead pulled her, who was slightly farther away, down the cliff with him…

Short summary by Yuushi L: Initially, the male lead (ML) liked another girl, while the female lead (FL) liked the ML. Both fell off a cliff. The FL temporarily lost her memory, and the ML, fearing others might take advantage of him, claimed FL was his wife while they were staying in a village. Later, when they returned home, the FL regained her memories and remembered that the ML liked someone else, so she kept her distance from him. However, during their time living together in the countryside, the ML’s view of the FL had completely changed. From this point, his pursuit of the FL begins.
