My Chick Husband (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 7
Seo Yeon, standing with her back to the wind, looked at Kwon Yul. Her long hair fluttered like dancing strands, brushing against her cheeks.
His towering, athlete-like build and overwhelmingly masculine features oddly complemented his shy expression.
Seo Yeon thought that if cherry blossoms were drifting down like snowflakes, he might have looked even more wistful.
“What if, that day, you’d just wiped off the coffee and tossed the napkin straight into the trash…?”
“…”
“Or—what if you’d known my phone number was on it but threw it away on purpose…? That’s what I worried about.”
As clouds passed overhead, dazzling sunlight poured down upon the two standing face to face.
When Seo Yeon squinted, Kwon Yul raised his large hand to cast a shadow over her eyes.
“Then again, I kept hoping.”
Thanks to that tiny shade, barely the width of a finger, Seo Yeon’s eyes, now more at ease, fixed on Kwon Yul’s lips.
“Hoping that maybe—even today—you’d call me. That kind of hope.”
You waited.
Kwon Yul spoke the very words Seo Yeon had been aching to hear.
Her gaze locked onto the tip of his chin, waiting for what he’d say next.
“I kept checking my silent phone once every ten minutes, wishing that at least a short text would come before the day ended. That’s how it was.”
“Why?”
Seo Yeon blurted it out—genuinely curious.
Why did you stare at me at the bar? Why did you ask for my permission before taking off your jacket for Ho Jin? Why didn’t you ask for my number? And why did you pretend not to understand even when I hinted so clearly?
A single “Why?” from Seo Yeon held countless unspoken questions.
Kwon Yul lifted his eyes toward the sunlight, as if gathering his thoughts.
Seo Yeon watched silently as his narrowed eyes and the pronounced movement of his Adam’s apple betrayed his nerves.
“My mind was full. Not calculating anything—just wondering… whether I’d be good enough for you.”
Seo Yeon hesitated, unsure what to say.
Just then, a delivery motorcycle sped up behind her.
Instinctively, Kwon Yul’s large arm pulled her shoulder toward him. His touch was cautious, yet where his hand met her shoulder, it tingled as if in pain.
Too close. Much too close.
For a moment, Seo Yeon felt as though she’d suddenly climbed to a great height—her ears went muffled.
She swallowed hard, a soft click echoing in her ears—and just like that, the world’s sounds returned, crisp and clear, including his voice.
“This won’t do. Shall we sit somewhere?”
At the end of Seo Yeon’s upward gaze, his sharp jawline scanned the street, checking for another approaching motorcycle.
Realizing this wasn’t a conversation for the middle of the sidewalk, Seo Yeon nodded.
Only after he’d guided her safely onto the inner side of the path did Kwon Yul finally lower his large arm.
The moment his heavy arm left her shoulder, she felt oddly empty—like she’d just taken off a warm winter coat.
They retraced their steps and sat on a bench beneath a tree sprouting tender new leaves.
Then, both hesitated, stealing glances at each other, unsure who should speak first.
Feeling awkward, Seo Yeon took a sip of her soft-drink with chewy jelly and quietly chewed, her cheeks puffing slightly.
Finally, unable to stand it any longer, she spoke first.
“I thought… you’d rejected me.”
At the word “rejected,” Kwon Yul turned his whole upper body toward her. He opened his mouth, but Seo Yeon was quicker.
“Since I’d never been rejected before, I just assumed you… must have liked me too. How unlucky of me.”
“No. Not at all.”
Flustered, he raised both hands, waving them vigorously—making Seo Yeon let out a soft laugh.
“The first time we met, you didn’t give me your number. The second time, even when I asked, you still didn’t. And the rest… is a secret.”
She couldn’t bring herself to admit she’d gone jogging in the park just to “accidentally” run into him.
“Now that I hear you say that… I guess I really was cowardly.”
“You’re only realizing that now? Ugh, just thinking about it makes me…”
Frustrated, Seo Yeon lightly tapped her chest—and his face flushed red with embarrassment.
“Would it sound too much like an excuse if I said there was truly a reason I couldn’t?”
He spoke like someone with unavoidable circumstances.
Seo Yeon’s piercing gaze bore into him.
Trending
Yet, she wanted to believe him. She couldn’t judge him outright—he didn’t seem like the type to fabricate convenient lies just to dodge a situation.
“But don’t do it twice. I might be weak against rejection, but I’m strong against excuses. Next time, I won’t let it slide.”
“Then… can I still wait for your call?”
“No. Don’t wait—just call me yourself. But…”
Her round, brown eyes stared straight into Kwon Yul’s face.
“Wait. I don’t want to give it to you just yet.”
Confident. Resolute. That was Han Seo Yeon.
“Okay. I’ll wait.”
Kwon Yul answered as if he understood her feelings perfectly.
“But you’re not even asking when I’ll tell you? What if I’m just making excuses because I don’t want to give it yet?”
Even though she liked how readily he accepted it, Seo Yeon pouted slightly.
He smiled faintly and lowered his gaze.
Why are your eyelashes so pretty? Ugh. I want to tell him my number right this second.
Whether or not he sensed her thoughts, Kwon Yul simply told her to do as she pleased, however her heart led her.
Such a clean-cut man—never doing anything awkward or forcing his way. That was Kwon Yul.
But because of that very neatness, Seo Yeon’s mind grew tangled.
Even if she’d said she’d give her number next time—couldn’t they at least share a meal to mark their reunion after so long?
Then, deep inside, a warning light flashed red.
Know when to step in—and when to step out. Right now, it’s time to leave coolly and gracefully—the way Han Seo Yeon always does.
Though deeply reluctant, she gathered herself to go.
“…Should we head out?”
When Seo Yeon’s eyes looked down at Kwon Yul still seated, just like the old Seo Yeon once had, he deliberately began adjusting his clothes slowly.
He straightened the already immaculate shoulders of his shirt and smoothed both sleeves meticulously.
Ugh. This infuriatingly unhurried man.
Once fully composed, he reluctantly rose to his feet. Seo Yeon’s gaze, which had been looking down, shot instantly upward.
“If I asked you to grab a meal, you’d say ‘next time,’ right?”
Still, thank you—for asking me to eat together.
If he’d just obediently said, “I’ll wait until you contact me,” she might have felt slightly disappointed.
“I might waver if you keep teasing me like that. I could end up blurting out my 010 number before I’ve even picked up my spoon.”
At her joke, he laughed, shoulders shaking slightly.
It was the first time she’d seen such a lively reaction from him.
“If you say things like that, I’ll beg you desperately to go eat with me.”
“Really, don’t. I was just thinking what would be good to eat—and already my mouth’s watering.”
A cheerful line in the sand. Through light banter, Seo Yeon conveyed her firm resolve—she wasn’t going to change her mind.
“But… can I ask you one favor?”
At the word “favor,” Seo Yeon nodded.
“The clothes. Give them to me yourself—not through Hyun Woo. When we meet.”
Kwon Yul stepped closer to her, as if unwilling to yield even this much.
His warm breath settled softly above Seo Yeon’s crown.
“When?”
“Next Saturday?”
“Oh, I’ve got plans with Ho Jin that day. She’s been singing about wanting to go to a hotel buffet for ages—I really have to go.”
Kwon Yul’s eyebrows dipped slightly, clearly disappointed.
“How about the Saturday after next? Would that work?”
Seo Yeon tilted her head to meet his dark eyes—and he nodded.
“Where?”
“At the entrance of the park near my place.”
“What time?”
“Noon. But isn’t that your workout time?”
“It’s just one day. No one’s taking attendance anyway.”

“Ohh. Bold move.”
As Seo Yeon turned to leave, Kwon Yul’s long legs quickly matched her stride, falling neatly into step beside her—as if that spot naturally belonged to him.
They walked at a comfortable distance.
She wished the parking lot were just a bit farther—say, a kilometer away—but neither showed it.
“If, say, someone can’t make it because of an emergency—there are exercise machines in the park, right?”
“Exercise machines?”
“The big wheel-like one—you move your waist left and right like this.”
Seo Yeon raised both arms as if cheering, stretching her body left and right—and Kwon Yul instantly understood.
“Let’s agree to leave a note at the base of that machine—saying I couldn’t come due to unavoidable circumstances, and we’ll meet next time at such-and-such place and time. How’s that?”
At Seo Yeon’s absurd suggestion, Kwon Yul laughed.
If only they’d exchanged numbers, none of this hassle would be needed.
But given their history, a little inconvenience had to be endured.
“It’s just… really…”
“Weird, right?”
Lost in their silly conversation, they’d already reached Seo Yeon’s familiar car.
“I’m really glad to have seen you today, Seo Yeon.”
“Next Saturday at noon—right in front of the park. You’d better come.”
The moment Seo Yeon gave a light wave, Kwon Yul felt a pang of regret.
He even considered begging her again—if not for a meal, maybe just coffee somewhere. He had a feeling she’d say yes.
Seated in the driver’s seat, Seo Yeon rolled down her window slightly, said “Take care,” and drove off without hesitation.
Kwon Yul stood rooted in place, swallowing his disappointment.
***
Seo Yeon thought of Kwon Yul every single day.
After their meeting at the museum, thoughts of him—once occurring a dozen times a day—exploded uncontrollably. No, she’d practically built a dedicated room for him in her mind, pulling him out constantly to check on him.
When her designs wouldn’t come together. When her staff brought her subpar drafts. When she saw the back of a tall man. Really—just anytime at all.
Maybe she should’ve postponed her plans with Ho Jin and met Kwon Yul instead.
Even while driving to the hotel to meet Ho Jin, she couldn’t stop thinking about him.
They’d agreed to meet at noon on Saturday, at the park entrance.
Meeting him next Saturday, at the same time and same place, would surely feel even happier than today. Yes, it would.
Seo Yeon tried hard to calm her racing heart.
Lost in thought, she handed over her car for valet parking and stepped into the hotel.
The high ceiling shimmered with crystal ornaments like the Milky Way—and just like that, he popped into her mind again. Simply because she saw something beautiful. No other reason.
To chase the image of that tall man from her head, she sent a quick message.
The moment Seo Yeon checked her phone, Ho Jin came rushing in, breathless.
“Are we late?”
“By like ten minutes. Seriously—ever since you made some money, your attitude’s gone downhill. Remember when you’d show up an hour early and just wait?”
“Ugh, tell me about it. My stomach’s gotten a bit oily. Heh. Gotta use the restroom first—empty my bowels so I can fit in one more piece of sushi.”
Ho Jin giggled and headed off to the restroom, leaving Seo Yeon to wander the lobby alone.
It being Saturday lunchtime, the place buzzed with wedding and doljanchi parties.
Seo Yeon looked up at the ceiling again, thinking of him.
The crystals dangling from transparent fishing lines swayed gently—just like her restless heart.
“Han… Seo Yeon? Seo Yeon-ah.”
Someone called her name.
One of the few people who could speak to her informally. That familiar—but grating—voice made Seo Yeon’s forehead crease instantly.
“Do you really have to pretend you know me? Like we’re still close or something.”
Even with her curt tone, the man approached slowly. Dressed in an elegant hanbok, he gazed at her with tender eyes.
“You’re still… as beautiful as ever.”
Should she thank him for that—or tell him to get lost? Seo Yeon shook her head and turned away, as if he weren’t even worth her attention.
But the man in hanbok quickly stepped beside her.
“It’s been over two years… and you really haven’t changed at all.”

“That’s rich, coming from Mr. Betrayal—especially dressed like that.”
Seo Yeon’s index finger gestured mockingly up and down his figure.
“Seo Yeon-ah… I got married. But… not a single day goes by—”
“Enough! Stop right there!”
She didn’t want to hear his TMI.
Seo Yeon cut off her ex-boyfriend’s words sharply.
If I’d known this would happen, I should’ve just met Kwon Yul. Seriously, what rotten luck, she muttered—just as a shrill voice shattered her eardrums.
“Oppa! What are you doing here? You—you—you, Han Seo Yeon?!”
Seo Yeon squeezed her eyes shut and groaned.
“Nine-year curse, samjae, public shame… damn it all.”
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
