“And you’ve already suggested dancing with me twice.”

“…Hey.”

“Yeah?”

“There’s William. Hide.”

Without finishing the dance, Siod was led away by Ginevra. Questions filled his mind.

“Even though she’s using transformation magic, why is she hiding?”

‘Right.’

Unintentionally, Ginevra hid and observed William. He was entering the ballroom with a guy named James she had seen before.

Judging by his awkward expression and fumbling with the collar, it seemed clear that he was uncomfortable in such a place.

“Even if you don’t know, my face is the same. Go and say hello or something…”

“Hush, just stay still.”

“Hahaha, fine, fine.”
In the eyes of Siod, a spy with a thousand years of experience, Ginevra’s behavior seemed like that of an adorable chick. To his surprise, as William roamed the hall, his eyes met Siod’s, and he began to approach.

A nervously tense Ginevra hid behind Siod. The situation was starting to amuse Siod now.

“Professor?”

“William, and Mr. James. Are you enjoying the festival?”

“Yes. But about her…”

“Oh, this way.”

William had good instincts, especially when it came to magical matters. He felt an oddly familiar sensation. Just as William was about to look at the woman hiding behind Siod, he spoke up.

“My fiancée.”

William widened his eyes.

“I thought Professor had a dark side towards my mother.”

“Can’t you avoid mentioning that so openly in a place like this?”

“Oh, I see. My apologies.”

Siod sighed. That’s when something poked at him from behind. When he leaned his ear down, Ginevra whispered.

“Don’t refuse the dance.”

It seemed like he was worried that his son might turn into a cold-hearted guy. Ruining my reputation… Siod sighed and said,

“William, just in case, rejecting a woman’s dance is extremely rude.”

“I saw a female student getting rejected by the professor earlier.”

“Yeah, I’m a bad guy.”

William looked at him in disbelief.
“I’m okay. I plan to reject all dance requests.”

“Why?”

“I don’t know how to dance.”

Ginevra felt a shiver. Siod let out a deep sigh. It was a long-lasting regret. If he had been by William’s side since his birth, such a situation would not have occurred.

“Don’t worry, dear. If this kid, Will, says he doesn’t know how to dance, there will be a pile of female students eager to teach him.”

James laughed heartily beside them.

“Oh, I don’t like that.”

“Didn’t you hear what the professor said? Rejecting a dance is extremely rude behavior. Do you want to be known as trash?”

Now Siod, who had become known as trash, felt a pang in his chest. Regardless of whether he spoke or not, William stood firm.

“I don’t care.”

“If you were going to be like this, why did you attend this?”

“You said they would check attendance at the ball. Was that a lie?”

“Of course, it was a lie.”

While the two boys bickered, Ginevra quietly signaled Siod. It was a signal to retreat. However…

“Oh, Professor. I have a part in alchemy that I’m stuck on. Can I visit your office later?”

“Hmm? Sure. Of course.”

‘Alchemy?’

Again, a fierce gaze started to be felt from behind Siod. This time, even William seemed startled. Just as William was about to peek over Siod’s shoulder to see what was happening…

“Then, see you later.”
Siod wrapped his arms around Ginevra’s shoulders and teleported.

It was a garden with no one in sight. As soon as they arrived, Ginevra immediately brushed off Siod’s arm from her neck. She muttered bitterly.

“I told you not to teach anything to William.”

“I didn’t say not to teach alchemy.”

“Alchemy is ultimately magic!”

Siod sighed and said, “Do you think I taught it because I like alchemy? There’s no way to become close. I can’t say I’m his dad.”

Ginevra, losing her composure, spoke defiantly.

“What are you going to do by becoming friends with William!”

“What do you mean? I’m his dad. It’s natural to want to be close.”

“So, you taught alchemy because there’s nothing to teach? Even though the kid committed suicide because of it?”

A startled Siod quickly cast a protective barrier. He held Ginevra’s arms and tried to calm her, saying, “Vera, calm down. I only taught something simple. Just the really basic things…”

“On a subject you know nothing about.”

Ginevra started shedding tears, her voice trembling.

“Do you understand my feelings? Did you see that kid in front of me, cutting his chest and taking out his heart?”

Siod had nothing to say.

“Vera…”

Ginevra’s voice began to shake mercilessly.

“I’m afraid something like that will happen again…”

“I’m sorry.”

Ginevra struggled to suppress her tears for a while. After looking at the sky and calming down, she lashed out.
“I promise not to teach anything to William.”

“I can’t do that.”

“Why!”

Ginevra couldn’t take it anymore. As she stamped her foot, the ground sank without any spell being cast, as her magic responded to her emotions.

Excited, Siod returned to his original form and calmly said, looking at Ginevra, whose hair was now fluttering,

“I’m a father too. Because I want to give William as many possibilities as possible.”

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
