Having finished his tasks in the Dragon Valley, Siod heard rumors about William’s grand birthday party that had occurred in his absence.

‘Wouldn’t it have been nice to be informed earlier?’

However, all he could do was submit an application to the academy with a recommendation letter from Guinevere.

Because of his past sins, he couldn’t even speak out and easily obtained a temporary teaching position at the academy, thanks to Guinevere’s backing.

In the Magic Department.

But William was in the Knight Department. To even see his face, Siod had to travel from one end of the academy to the other. When he finally approached William…

“What do you want?”

William’s gray eyes flickered with suspicion.

‘Does he recognize me?’

Siod was taken aback by William’s wary look, even though he hadn’t revealed his identity.

“I told you I’m not interested in magic.”

‘Has Vera already spoken to him?’

Contrary to Siod’s confusion, William was just annoyed. Ever since he joined the Knight Department, professors from the Magic Department had all visited him at least once.

“Um, William Rodante?”

Being constantly harassed by them, William saw Siod’s robe of the Magic Department and thought it was obvious.

“Don’t come looking for me.”

“I’m not here for that…”

William left with a cold breeze. Thus, Siod’s first meeting with his son ended abruptly. Siod rubbed his arms, feeling the chill.

“Cold-hearted kid.”

He wondered who William took after. The affection he had felt for his son, having heard of his tragic past, threatened to flicker out.

‘I wanted to give him a birthday present.’

Siod sighed deeply.

Siod’s next target was Larisa. Instead of breaking through the barrier and teleporting to Guinevere as before, he confidently entered through the main gate.

However, Hedel, not Guinevere, came out to meet the guest. Siod was irked seeing the handsome young man lounging in Guinevere’s house like he owned the place.

“I came to see Vera.”

Hedel responded indifferently to Siod’s blunt tone.

“Veronica?”

Feigning ignorance, Hedel further annoyed Siod, who managed to restrain his anger.

“Tell Guinevere I’m here.”

Then Hedel mockingly said,

“Do you think Master Guinevere comes out for everyone who calls? I’m a dragon…”

“Don’t come uninvited next time.”

Hedel’s icy words cut off as he stood up. There were countless who came to see Guinevere for her fame.

“I’m Vera’s…”

Siod couldn’t finish his sentence. As he hesitated, Hedel closed the door and left. Siod sighed,

‘Not a lover… nor an ex-boyfriend.’

He felt a sudden pang of sadness at his situation. Contemplating whether to break the barrier again, he pretended to leave through the main gate but used an invisibility spell to head towards the garden. He circled the building and leaped to Guinevere’s study window.

Knock, knock, knock.

There was no response despite sensing Guinevere inside.

Knock, knock.

The window was also sealed. Why was there a double or triple barrier even at home? Should I make a small hole? As Siod pondered, the window suddenly swung open.

“Ouch.”

Siod hit his head on the window frame and groaned.

“What is it?”

“What do you mean what? It’s your husband.”

“You’re insane.”

Guinevere closed the window. Siod felt miserable after his joke led to being shut out.

Knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock.

“Why?”
“I came here because I have something to say, but some guy downstairs chased me away. Can I come in?”

Siod played the sympathy card, and Guinevere stepped aside to let him in. In reality, she just needed time to hide a copy of the time regression magic, but Siod, thinking his pitiful act worked, planned to use it more often in the future.

“But who’s that guy with the glasses? Never seen him before.”

“A disciple.”

“You have a disciple?”

Yes, when Siod first met her, Hedel was studying at the academy, so they had never crossed paths. Guinevere, not wanting to explain further, simply nodded.

“What did you want to talk about?”

“Oh, nothing much. Just curious about that girl, Larisa.”

“Why?”

Siod became agitated.

“Because of the strange vow you made, you’ll die whether she dies young, becomes unhappy, or even if you don’t try your best.”

“Don’t worry. I’m doing my best.”

Siod chuckled. After all, a vow is a promise made with words and depends on how one interprets it. And that interpretation entirely depended on Guinevere’s conscience.

Guinevere would survive as long as she felt she was doing her best. But if one day she felt she hadn’t and blamed herself, that vow would strangle her life.

Moreover, the vow couldn’t be canceled since the one who made it had died. Siod sighed, feeling anxious. Guinevere was like a mirage to him, uncertain and precarious.

“Anyway, I want to see her. Can you arrange something? Maybe an excuse?”

Guinevere looked at him blankly.

“What can you even do by yourself?”

“Why? I did everything you asked. Please, let me visit this mansion freely.”

Guinevere sighed.

“Why do you want to see Larisa?”

“I want to ensure she lives a long, happy life.”
