Fortunately, when he opened his eyes, he was still in a dream. Even though William knew it was a dream, he couldn’t just leave Larisa like this.

“Are you awake?”

There was the smell of food. Larisa was setting up stew, bread, and a bottle of alcohol on a meager little table that could hardly be called a dining table.

“Why alcohol?”

Larisa looked at him strangely.

“Why?”

“Well, we can’t get clean water here…”

“Oh, right. True. I’m so distracted.”

William awkwardly smiled. Larisa blinked silently and then said.

“Are you hungry? Eat quickly. I don’t know if it’ll suit your taste…”

“It’s delicious.”

The food, not seasoned due to the lack of salt, was hardly something to call tasty, but William told a well-intentioned lie.

“Really? That’s a relief.”

Larisa’s face brightened. However, the happy moment was short-lived, as someone banged on Larisa’s house door.

“Hey! You wench! Come out right now!”

Larisa looked frightened at the rough man’s voice. William quickly stood up, hiding Larisa behind him, and opened the door instead.

“Who are you?… And who might you be?”

“Who do you think you are?”

“I’m her employer!”

The factory manager, where Larisa worked, was at the door. When he saw Larisa standing behind William, the factory manager rolled his eyes and got angry.

“You, wench! Are you trying to cause trouble again?”

“Oh, no. Sir, factory manager.”
“I hired her because she said she wanted to earn money honestly, but she’s nothing but trouble whenever there’s an opportunity, this woman! Have you finally received a guest?”

“No, it’s not like that…”

Pushing Larisa aside, William replied.

“I’m her husband.”

“What… what?”

“Speak to me.”

William looked down at him arrogantly. Only then did the factory manager realize that William was well-dressed and cleared his throat awkwardly.

“This woman left the factory without a word, and now our factory is suffering immense losses.”

“Factory manager, I was really sick. Really.”

“Do you know that you are the only sick and poor person around here?!”

Larisa started to tear up. William was already troubled, and when a beggar-like person came to aggravate the situation, he started to get really annoyed.

“Don’t call her that. She’s my wife.”

“Who are you…”

“Me? William Rodante.”

The factory manager’s eyes widened. Unable to control his violent emotions, William swung his fist. Larisa’s scream echoed.

“William, stop.”

One punch felt too unsatisfying. William considered throwing another punch, but he refrained when Larisa clung to his arm.

“What are you doing! Even if Rodante is a noble, how dare you hit someone so recklessly!”

“Don’t forget, you insulted Larisa Rodante first. What do you think the judge would say if I killed you right here? Huh?”

Insulting a noble – a crime. The factory manager, a mere bourgeois commoner, pondered this and knelt down in contemplation.
“No, what I meant is… I mean, I’m sorry. I didn’t know the circumstances…”

“You should apologize to my wife.”

The factory manager lowered his head with a shameful expression, glaring at Larisa.

“I apologize.”

“No, Factory Manager. I’m sorry I couldn’t go out today. I won’t take this week’s wages… And I’ll quit from today.”

As if that was all he needed to hear, the factory manager abruptly stood up and fled without saying a word.

“Why didn’t you take the pay for the work?”

“We incurred losses because of me.”

“Why would we incur losses because of you?”

“If there are no parts, the machines stop…”

Parts? Did she just refer to herself as parts? William looked at Larisa with widened eyes. Larisa coughed heavily and leaned against a wall.

“This won’t do. Let’s go to the hospital.”

“I don’t want to.”

“Why?”

“I just want to rest. William, let’s eat first. Okay?”

Reluctantly, William finished the meal with Larisa. Then, even if it took force, he took Larisa to the hospital.

Upon arriving at the hospital, he realized why Larisa didn’t want to come.

The hospital was extremely poor, and there seemed to be more people dying than recovering.

William, who had never been sick in his life and had only seen the family physician, learned for the first time how poor the hospitals in the capital were.

After waiting for a long time, the doctor they finally met asked Larisa a few questions and, without any significant examination, said,

“It’s a lung disease.”

“If it’s a lung disease…”

“There’s no medicine. You may leave.”
Larisa pulled William towards the door with a pale face. William, angry, said,

“Hey, they’re not even providing treatment…”

“But the disease has no cure, right?”

William stepped back with determination. He needed to see a proper doctor, not some quack.

“This won’t work. Let’s go home. We’ll see the family physician…”

“I don’t want to!”

Larisa shouted loudly and then started coughing again. William quickly patted Larisa’s back. After a while of intense coughing, Larisa persuaded William.

“What if we go to your house, and I get kicked out? If the witch deliberately intervenes, I’ll end up alone again. I quit my job because of you. Now…”

“Lara…”

Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day

It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.

The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.

Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.

If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.

It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.

The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.

In the end, everything will come together and be explained.

One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!

In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.

Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.

However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.

Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.

Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?

——

Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.

His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.

Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”

——

The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.

Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!

Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!

The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…

——

But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.

The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.

She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…

Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”

Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”

Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

[Small Theater]

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.

Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”

Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.

Zhu Wansheng: ?

Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…

On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.

Warm breath lingers on her neck.

“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
