Guinevere Rodante was an indifferent woman who showed no interest in her son.
Her only son was merely the result of a one-night mistake, and no one knew who the father was.
When this son decided to marry, Guinevere nonchalantly nodded her approval without even seeing his bride-to-be.
She ensured a grand wedding. Being the only great witch Rodante’s son, the wedding couldn’t be modest. It was a lavish ceremony, more overwhelming than an emperor’s, lasting a month.
Then she forgot about it.
She only remembered her daughter-in-law’s existence when her son William brought his dying wife to her study.
But it was too late, the wife was too frail, and there was nothing Guinevere could do. The daughter-in-law died, and William was shattered. He missed important events, did not remarry, and sometimes shamed the Rodante name.
Guinevere urged William to forget the past, but soon regretted it because William reversed time.
On the day time flipped, Guinevere felt a strong magic surge from William’s location. Her magic spontaneously shielded her, and after the storm, her usual study felt off.
On her way to William, Guinevere realized what had happened.

Everything had returned to 15 years ago. William, almost 14, didn’t remember reversing time and was facing a child.
Guinevere sensed this child was the vaguely remembered daughter-in-law.
‘She reversed time for this child?’
William wasn’t a wizard, but with witch’s blood, he could perform simple magic, like collecting water from air or lighting fire without matches.
Time belonged to gods and dragons. Even the great Guinevere Rodante couldn’t hold a moment.
‘Despite the studies!’
Recognizing her son’s talent, Guinevere made him study harder than before. William, as a great witch’s son, was already burdened with expectations, which intensified when Guinevere taught him directly.
William, however, never became a wizard and grew into a more depressed, silent young man. Despite his busy life, he fell in love with a girl, Larisa or Lara or something.
Guinevere opposed it. Why marry a short-lived woman? Her son had a talent transcending human realms, potentially challenging the divine.
Thinking love was a waste of time, Guinevere managed to return even sooner.

She opposed because Larisa fell ill and died, leading William to reverse time immediately. It was 10 years. Only Guinevere remembered the erased 25 years.
As soon as Guinevere went back in time, she immediately sought William.
William immediately reversed time upon Larisa’s death. It was a span of 10 years. Guinevere Rodante was the only one who remembered the vanished 25 years.
Upon returning, Guinevere immediately sought William.
She found him, again facing the young girl Larisa. William had reversed time to their first meeting, but there was no way he fell for a 7-year-old, scruffy child from the slums. He was 14; she was 7 – a gap too wide for any affection to form. Guinevere simply thought keeping them apart would solve everything.
As she prepared to teleport with William, he desperately exclaimed, “Mother, wait! I lost my wallet!”
“So?” Guinevere coldly responded after teleporting William to his room, “You won’t need money. You’re grounded until you become a wizard.”
‘That way, he won’t meet Larisa or reverse time.’
But William, always obedient, defied her for the first time. He didn’t care for the consequences. His life’s savings, gathered for his longing to run away, were stolen. Driven by this thought, he escaped the mansion again to find Larisa.
Guinevere found William comforting a dirt-covered Larisa, holding her as she wept.
It was unsettling. An invisible fate seemed to entangle them, inevitably leading her son to despair. Guinevere quickly separated them, discarding Larisa like a ragdoll. William fiercely objected.

“Stop! She just lost her mother!”
Observing the surroundings – a shovel, loosely covered dirt, and two dirt-stained children – Guinevere deduced what happened. The thief couldn’t save Larisa’s mother; William found out and buried her himself.
Assuming love born of pity was easy to break, Guinevere legally adopted Larisa into a noble family. It seemed effective.
William initially doubted his mother’s generosity but soon forgot Larisa.
They met again at the royal New Year’s ball when William was 25 and Larisa 18. Guinevere, complacent with her son’s indifference towards Larisa, immersed herself in researching time-reversal magic.
Having witnessed her son’s success twice, she wondered if she could replicate it. Though she had no moments to reverse, her witch’s curiosity and quest for knowledge consumed her.
Meanwhile, William was reigniting his love for Larisa. Had Guinevere known, she wouldn’t have leisurely researched magic.
A depressed young man, failing to become a wizard, and a lady, fortunate to be adopted into nobility but still an outsider in high society, were drawn together, their childhood memories and affection quickly leading to love.
When William and Larisa sought Guinevere’s approval for marriage, she couldn’t deny it. Once or twice could be coincidence, but thrice? It seemed like fate.
However, Larisa was destined for a short life. If they married as is, she’d fall ill, die young, and William would reverse time again.
Guinevere set a condition.

“Have a child first. If you have a child together, I’ll grant permission.”
She thought with a child, William wouldn’t despair and reverse time.
But three years passed without conception. Then, William brought a bleeding Larisa to Guinevere’s tower, reminiscent of their first life. This time, Larisa had vomited blood.
‘She didn’t vomit blood in the first two lives.’
Though Larisa grew up poor and frail, she wasn’t critically ill. In this life, raised in a noble house from a young age, she should’ve lived longer than any commoner.
Guinevere then doubted Larisa’s illness.
She couldn’t cure her immediately, but could delay death. After 40 years of researching time magic, including the vanished 25 years, Guinevere slowed down Larisa’s time flow.
But no cure for the slowly dying Larisa was found.
Guinevere could teleport, conjure storms, cause earthquakes, or set half a continent ablaze, but she couldn’t heal someone with organs melted by poison.
Larisa lived for 10 years in prolonged agony.

At any time, Guinevere could end the magic and let her die, but it continued due to William’s selfishness.
William, almost insane, researched resurrection magic. But wasn’t his talent in time magic?
Guinevere advised him to abandon hopeless pursuits and focus on time magic to reverse Larisa’s fate.
“You’ve reversed time twice; you have the talent.”
After hearing his mother, William faintly smiled and said,
“I’m sorry, Mother. I can’t let Lara suffer any longer.”
He ended his life in front of her.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
