“I thought if she found someone else, I should just leave. I never even considered a dragon-human hybrid could be born. Only after seeing you did I realize it might be possible. You carry a dragon’s magic. So…”

“All this time… I didn’t even know… I’ve been chasing magic… my whole life…”

Siod stopped speaking and pulled the crying William into his arms. William wasn’t just crying because his father was a dragon.

He was grieving for all those years spent suffering from the shame of never becoming a mage.

William didn’t remember the fifty years he’d lost—but the pain from that time surely lingered in his subconscious. Siod apologized again.
