At first, Luke had fully intended to follow without question, but he was caught by Catherine.

“Don’t you dare go and upset the children! No! If I don’t go, you can’t go either! Stay home!”

“…That’s so unfair, Mother.”

Eventually, the two reached a dramatic compromise: they would go together to pick up Bonita just as the social gathering ended.

For this reason, only Aria and Bonita rode in the Lysianthus ducal carriage.

Bonita wore an utterly dazed expression, as if her soul had been sucked out by the luxury carriage she was riding in for the very first time. Her small mouth hung wide open.

‘It’s incredibly soft and plush!’

Bonita pressed down repeatedly on the carriage seat, her face filled with disbelief.

It wasn’t quite as plush as the bed in the ducal mansion, but it was certainly softer than the one in their old home.

There was even a tiny rabbit plush that Luke had bought in advance just for Bonita inside the carriage.

Clutching the pink rabbit tightly, Bonita bounced her feet excitedly. Aria watched her with a wry smile.

‘She really shouldn’t find things like this so amazing. Not Bonita.’

Though undeniably adorable, recalling why Bonita reacted this way made her heart ache unbearably.

‘Ah, never mind.’

It was utterly pointless to grieve over every little thing. After all, the past couldn’t be undone.
