Mom's Possessed (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 16
“Oh, uh, right. If it’s Lady Lysianthus, she might not know.”
She was famously strict and ill-tempered, yet at the same time remarkably calm and pragmatic.
She knew exactly how to keep her son tightly under control, so she would surely scold him sensibly, saying, “What nonsense is this?”
Dominic turned his gaze toward her, filled with that expectation.
Indeed, just as he’d anticipated, the Dowager Duchess of Lysianthus was openly showing her displeasure.
“What on earth are you talking about? Is drawing blood such a big deal that you’re making a fuss over nothing? Ridiculous!”
“R-right? You’re absolutely right, my lady!”
Dominic quickly rubbed his palms together eagerly.
“I’ll be extremely careful to leave as little trace as possible, so please don’t worry too much. I’ll disinfect it immediately afterward.”
Luke still looked deeply dissatisfied, but he didn’t object further.
He understood perfectly well that throwing a tantrum here wouldn’t accomplish anything.
He simply couldn’t stand it, even though he knew better.
“Then I’ll draw it now. Your Highness, could you please extend your arm this way…?”
While Dominic distracted Bonita completely, Leo quietly prepared the syringe needle beside her.
Leo wiped the needle thoroughly with an alcohol-soaked cotton ball, his heart pounding with nervousness.
“She’s definitely going to cry.”
It was only natural for children to hate injections, but the real problem would be if she burst into tears.
If that tiny, adorably delicate-looking girl truly was the Duke’s daughter, and if they made her cry…
“Ah, whatever. They won’t actually kill a priest right in front of a child.”
Leo glanced quickly at Dominic. Dominic was already looking back at him.
The two exchanged a silent signal and nodded in unison.
“Alright then—”
“Oh dear!”
Contrary to their expectations, however, it wasn’t Bonita who screamed.
“How can you possibly stick such a thick needle into this thin, bony little twig of an arm?! You need a finer one!”
“M-my lady?”
“Didn’t you hear me?! Go jab that thing into him all you like, but bring a less painful one for her!”
“B-but this is a pediatric needle—”
“Pediatric?! Do you seriously see her as a child?!”
Under Catherine’s furious pointing finger, Leo rolled his eyes anxiously, cold sweat beading on his forehead.
“W-well, my lady, she isn’t exactly an adult…”
“Not an adult?! Of course she isn’t!”
“Then she’s a child…”
“What nonsense!”
Catherine shouted furiously.
“At this size, she’s practically a newborn!”
“Huh?”
“Huh?”
This time, it wasn’t only Dominic who echoed in confusion. Bonita, suddenly labeled a newborn, flushed red and protested.
“My lady, I’m not a baby.”
“What are you talking about? Luke was already this big when he was just a month old.”
“Re-really?”
Whoosh.
Everyone in the room instantly turned their eyes toward Luke.
Nearly two meters tall, with shoulders and bulk so broad they made the chair he sat on look cramped.
Indeed, Luke Lysianthus looked more like a bear than a human, Aria murmured.
“That actually makes sense.”
“What utter nonsense are you spouting?”
Luke gave her a look of utter disbelief.
“No matter how big I was, I certainly wasn’t that huge just one month after birth. It’s absurd to take that seriously.”
Trending
“Haha, of course, right?”
“Obviously.”
Luke gave a dry chuckle.
“It took me a full year to get that big.”
“Huh?”
“Huh?”
“Huh?”
“Huh?”
This time, the two priests, Aria, and Bonita all voiced their confusion simultaneously. Luke, paying them no mind, simply jerked his chin toward Leo, who held the needle.
“In any case, that needle is definitely too thick. Bonita is too small—use a smaller one.”
“How is this thick…”
At Luke’s terrifying glare, Leo snapped his mouth shut tight.
But he truly felt wronged.
“This needle is used even on three-year-olds!”
Hearing that the presumed princess was unusually petite for her age, he’d deliberately brought a needle meant for children even younger than her.
Besides, a thinner needle than this simply didn’t exist.
“Um… then should I use a lancet instead?”
“A lancet?”
“Yes, a lancet.”
Dominic rummaged through his bag and pulled out a small lancet. Since it wasn’t hollow like a syringe needle, it looked much thinner.
Luke lazily scanned the lancet and reached a decision.
“That’s better. Use that.”
In the end, they ended up pricking her finger with the lancet, but Catherine kept fussing every time the lancet neared Bonita, so drawing her blood alone took a full hour.
Bonita, utterly drained, crawled straight into Aria’s arms. Seeing this, the Dowager Duchess flew into another rage.
“Look what you’ve done to the poor child! What on earth did you do to that lancet?”
Luke felt the same.
“If you’ve done anything suspicious, I won’t let you off.”
The two priests, Dominic and Leo, were left speechless with exasperation. They wanted to shout:
‘It’s all your fault!’
Of course, they only dared think it—they were too scared to say it aloud.
[This is the timeline separator]Unlike Bonita’s blood draw, which completely drained her energy, Luke’s blood extraction was remarkably swift.
Though there was a slight delay.
“Hic!”
“The needle… won’t go in?”
The syringe simply couldn’t penetrate Luke’s thick forearm.
Dominic, who’d been about to inject him, gulped hard, his brown eyes wide with shock.
“Even if it’s thick, it’s still a human arm… How can a steel needle not go in? That makes no sense!”
Seeing the priests flustered, Luke casually sliced his own arm open with a knife, completely unfazed.
Aria’s horrified scream at the gushing blood was only natural.
“What are you doing, showing such a thing in front of a child!”
“…Ah.”
Luke’s face paled as he finally noticed Bonita’s gaze.
Whoosh.
His head snapped toward the two priests, his terrifying red eyes blazing with intensity.
“Treat it immediately. That’s an order.”
“Yes, sir…!”
And so it was done.
After his wound was neatly treated, Luke softened his expression and approached Bonita.
“I’m sorry you had to see something so unpleasant. Were you very frightened?”

“Well…”
Bonita hesitated to answer.
Truthfully, the back alleys of the street where she’d lived before had plenty of thugs who fought with knives.
She’d never been directly caught in one, but she’d occasionally seen corpses left behind after violent brawls.
More importantly, hadn’t she herself often seen blood?
‘I shouldn’t say that.’
Bonita was quite clever for a child. She vaguely sensed that revealing her rough upbringing would only cause Aria trouble.
“Bonita…”
The silence from Bonita made the atmosphere heavy. Luke was now nearly drowning in self-loathing.
‘Was I really this thoughtless?’
When Elodie was alive, he’d always tried to be her sweet lover, restraining his aggressive nature.
But during the seven years without her, with no one to be gentle toward, he’d acted however he pleased.
That had become a habit, causing him to occasionally behave like a brute in front of Bonita.
‘You idiot.’
Luke had now entered the stage of self-flagellation.
Completely unaware of this, Bonita just rolled her eyes around nervously.
Unable to stand it any longer, Catherine smacked her foolish son on the head.
“Thwack! What useless nonsense! How can she possibly answer when you ask her with that scary face? Go look in a mirror sometime!”
“…This is all your fault.”
“What?”
“I inherited this frightening appearance from you, didn’t I?”
Catherine was left speechless by his words.
It was true. Her eldest son looked exactly like her.
The only reason Catherine didn’t appear as intimidating as Luke was because she was a woman.
Though tall by female standards, she was naturally shorter than the average adult man.
But Luke?
He stood over two meters tall.
And to make matters worse, his massive build came from his father, the late Duke—making him seem like some hopeless monster.
Meanwhile, the second son, who inherited the Duke’s face and Catherine’s normal stature, was a gentle-looking handsome man.
His height was pleasantly average, unlike Luke’s absurdly towering frame.
As a child, he hadn’t minded much.
But when he learned before falling in love that Elodie’s ideal man was someone with a warm, caring face, he’d felt as if the sky had collapsed.
Of course, in the end, she’d chosen him, and this very appearance had greatly helped him become the ruler of the South… but still.
It was unfair.
“It’s all your fault.”
He drove the point home decisively.
Catherine gaped in exasperation at his resentful tone.
“Um, when will we get the results?”
Aria broke the heavy silence.
Holding Bonita, who’d burrowed into her lap, she asked the flustered priests.
Dominic answered—he was the more sociable of the two.
“In the old days, it took over a month, but thanks to recent advances, it’s much faster now. Just a few hours.”
“A few hours?”
Catherine snapped out of her shock at Dominic’s words. Naturally indifferent to others’ thoughts, she recovered quickly.
“Exactly how many hours is ‘a few’?”
“Huh? Well, there might be some variation, so I can’t say precisely…”
“What’s the earliest possible time?”
“Well, that’s also variable—”
Dominic stammered, sweating coldly. Catherine’s eyes narrowed fiercely.
“Tell me the truth.”

“Th-three hours!”
“Good.”
She’d practically wrenched the answer from him.
Catherine smiled like a satisfied beast, then abruptly pointed her cane at Dominic.
“You’d better have it done within three hours. You know my temper well enough, I assume?”
Dominic silently swallowed his tears and rubbed his palms together frantically.
“…Haha, of course I will.”
