After Cactus left, Luke lay on his bed in his room, staring blankly at the white ceiling.

“You’re a dark mage.”

The shocking words he’d just heard kept echoing in his ears.

“How could you possibly know I’m a dark mage…?”

Of course, it was true that he had actually cast dark magic before.

As Cactus had said, he had indeed killed quite a few people. Aside from the exceptionally rare and talented cases who could make pacts with demons, all dark mages sacrificed others’ lifeblood as offerings to fuel their magic.

Though he’d used them for his own selfish purposes, so what? At the time, half-mad from losing Elodie, Luke felt that even this much was sufficient to uphold his sense of duty.

“…Are you planning to report me?”

Yet his heart still sank—simply because someone else had discovered his secret.
