“Miss Bonita? Miss Bonita!”
Hindley initially thought Bonita was playing a prank, but after calling her several times and seeing the unresponsive child, he paled.
Originally, Bonita was a diligent student, occasionally grumbling but never using it as an excuse to avoid studying.
He quickly picked up Bonita and rushed out of the room, leaving the door wide open.
“Is anyone here?! It’s urgent!”
“What’s going on?”
Hindley, shouting towards the corridor, trembled as he saw Aria popping out from the next room.
“Were you in the next room?”
“Why are you holding our Bonita like that?”
Instead of an answer, a sharp question came. Aria’s gaze shifted from Hindley, holding Bonita tightly, to the pale child in his arms.
“Bonita!”
Hindley instantly took Bonita back from Aria. However, he couldn’t complain.
“Bonita, are you okay? Answer me…”
Aria’s face was even paler than the collapsed Bonita. After checking the child’s consciousness by holding her and seeing her legs limp, Aria staggered.
She, holding Bonita tightly, murmured quietly.
“Doctor…”
“Yes?”
“Call a doctor! There’s one at the far end of the third floor right now!”
“Oh, I see!”
Responding to Aria’s urgent cry, Hindley hurriedly ran. She lay Bonita down on the floor while panting.
‘Her body is stiff…’
It was one form of seizures.
It’s dangerous to hug and run with a child in this situation.
With trembling hands, she turned Bonita’s head to the side and brought her hand to the shirt buttons.
“Ugh…”
Her hand was wet with cold sweat. Every time it slipped while pressing the buttons, Aria barely managed to unbutton the first one.
But the next ones were a bit better.
With the top three buttons undone, the blue Aria sat down hesitantly and looked down at Bonita. The body temperature was excessively cold.
‘Why all of a sudden?’
If it was a typical fever, there wouldn’t be any fatal organ damage as long as she dealt with it quickly. But considering Bonita’s age, there might be some other issue.
For example, an incurable disease…
‘What if it’s a big problem?’
Bonita seemed healthy. In fact, there were no problems when she first came to the mansion and received a health check.
But some diseases may not show any symptoms until they manifest.
Aria’s heart pounded with fear.
‘Could it be because of me?’
Elodie had been quite sick since she was young. If Bonita suddenly became like this, maybe an unknown genetic disease manifested just now…
“…Ton Yang! Hilten Yang!”
Someone shook Aria’s shoulders vigorously. The negative thoughts that were swirling around her vanished instantly.
“Hilten Yang, snap out of it!”
It was Rebecca Moore, the resident physician.
“Yes, yes…”
Aria replied absentmindedly. In the meantime, Rebecca was examining Bonita, lying on the floor.
“You did well with the first aid. When exactly did Miss Bonita collapse?”
“It’s been about 5 minutes.”
Hindley, who had calmed down again, spoke.
“I rushed straight to Mrs. Moore as soon as she collapsed.”
“Was there a fever?”
“I’m not sure. Probably not. She didn’t seem to have a fever.”
Rebecca checked Bonita’s body temperature and then turned her over to check her pulse.
“The heart is beating. No foaming at the mouth or signs of mucosal bleeding.”
“Is it serious?”
Aria asked anxiously. Rebecca’s expression darkened.
“We don’t know yet. It could simply be a sudden stiffening, but even if that’s the case, we need to conduct a thorough examination.”
Aria bit her lip.
Rebecca carefully moved Bonita on the sheet and gave instructions.
“It’s better to move her. Sir on the other side, please hold her legs well. If the patient’s body shakes, the seizure symptoms may worsen, so be careful.”
“Understood.”
As Hindley carefully lifted the other side, Aria, who had been biting her lips, asked.
“Teacher, is there anything I can do to help? Something I can do…”
“It’s better to inform Lady Luciensis and inform His Excellency. Also, call a few maids to help with nursing.”
Aria quickly moved. Whether there was a sour relationship between Luke and Saise, it was no longer an important issue.
Her steps towards Catherine’s room staggered. She knocked loudly on the door.
“Madam, madam…!”
After a few seconds, the door opened.
It was Catherine with a displeased face.
“Who dares to do such rude things in my house… Hilton?”
She grumbled with a frowning face, then blinked in surprise when she saw the faltering Aria.
“What’s going on?”
“B-Bonita.”
Aria stuttered.
“Bonita, Bonita collapsed. Rebecca is…”
“What did you say?”
Hearing Aria’s words, Catherine’s mouth slightly opened. She seemed dumbfounded by the sudden news.
It was too urgent to dismiss it as a lie or a joke, and Aria’s face was too desperate. Moreover, Aria was not the kind of person to make such a bad joke about Bonita.
After that, an emergency alert was issued to the Duchy.
Catherine rushed to where Bonita was lying, and Aria, with trembling hands, urgently informed the doctor. A servant carrying a letter quickly set off on a royal road to inform the Duke.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
