Miss Pendleton (Update to C.222 END) - Chapter 212
“Sir, the receipt from the contractor at the Banzzly Smelter has arrived.”
Noel, who was opening letters at the desk across the room, informed Ian.
Noel had returned to work last week. The stitches on his abdomen had healed well enough for him to resume earning a living.
“Calculate the quantity and cost of the timber and submit a report.”
“Understood.”
Noel replied briskly, pulling the abacus from the corner of his desk toward himself.
The office was filled with the clacking of abacus beads and the scratching of a pen nib dancing on paper. Amidst this clerical noise, the laughter of Ian’s wife, Laura, and Olivia Fairfax drifted in from the garden.
It was a peaceful afternoon. Ian looked down at the business cards, recalling the reputations of the lawyers he had investigated through various channels.
“Sir.”
Noel, flicking the abacus beads, spoke up from across the room.
“Have you been troubled by something lately?”
“Why do you ask?”
“You seem to sigh more often these days.”
“What could I possibly have to worry about? In a little while, I’ll be the father of adorable twins.”
“That’s true. I felt the same way when Barbara was full-term.”

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.

Do you dare?
Su Heng assists a divine lord in his cultivation, aiming to make him experience all the sufferings of love, so that he can attain the Great Dao.
Only after being chased down from the heavens by the divine lord, confined and completely possessed by him, does she realize how successful she has been.
