“That’s good. Tell me the location.”
“But if someone else finds him, he will definitely refuse to meet.”
Latil suddenly wondered if the High Priest was playing with her, and raised her eyebrows. Why does he keep changing his words? Can’t he just tell me everything at once?
Seeing her threatening aura, the High Priest apologetically requested.
“Please write a letter to me. I will personally deliver your words to the Archbishop.”
[This is the time separator]That night.
Latil tossed and turned in bed until one in the morning, eventually crawling out of the covers.
Various complicated matters piled up, creating confusion. She thought it would be better to be alone to sort out these emotions, but once she laid down, her anguish only deepened.
Then it seemed better to be with someone who could clear her mind.
‘I should go to Klein. My head clears up when I talk to that guy.’
“Your Majesty? Are you going for a walk?”
“To the harem. Let’s go to Klein.”
Latil calmly spoke to the surprised guard and walked down the corridor where only the sound of insects could be heard.
“Yo, Your Majesty!”
Without a word of coming, she suddenly appeared at dawn. Klein, who had been comfortably lying down with a beauty pack on his face, jumped up in surprise.
“What is that? Is it mud?”
When Latil made fun of Klein’s green face pack, Klein got flustered and hurried into the bathroom.
“Your Majesty, I’ll wash up quickly and come out! Please stay there! Just a moment!”
Even after entering the bathroom, Klein was still shouting over the door.
“Understood.”
Latil responded with a smile she didn’t even realize, feeling two conflicting emotions. One was a feeling of ‘I did well to come to Klein’. The other was a thought of ‘Klein could still possibly be a spy. Don’t let your guard down.’
Latil pressed her eye sockets and leaned against the pillow on the bed where Klein was just leaning on.
‘He might seem stupid, but he’s Hyacinth’s brother. This could all just be an act.’
Even as she thought about how embarrassed Klein would be when he emerged from washing his face, and what kind of nonsense he would spout to hide it, she couldn’t help but laugh.
Then, Latil spotted a small, sharpeyed teddy bear next to Klein’s pillow and reached out to it.
“What’s this, this unpleasantlooking doll?”
It was a doll that was a little smaller than the palm of her hand. But even the small thing had a necklace.
Lifting the doll out of curiosity, Latil realized that the doll’s necklace was not a necklace, but a name tag. The tag was turned backward, hidden from view.
“Did he even put a name on it?”
Surprised, she turned the doll over and found ‘Your Majesty2’ written in delicate gold letters on a small glass plate, which made her burst into laughter.
“How absurd.”
Then.
“Your Majesty. May I enter for a moment?”
From beyond the door, Sonnaught called out to Latil in a quiet voice. There would be no reason for Sonnaught to call her at this hour unless it was something urgent, so Latil immediately gave him permission.
“Come in.”
At that, the door opened quietly, and Sonnaught approached without making a sound, whispering in the lowest possible voice.
“There is a serious matter. You must hurry.”
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
