Klein recalled the Emperor, who, even while scolding, had been subtly flirting with him, and he smiled. It was endearing in its own way…

When Klein made a heart shape with his fingers, the Emperor’s delighted laughter was quite charming.

Am I that appealing? Klein quickened his pace due to his shy feelings. He thought that while overt relationships might be fun, there was a certain charm to a secret one.

“Over there.”

The feeling of seeing the crown prince of the company approach was quite pleasant.

“Prince.”

Klein heard the man calling him and saw him approaching, but he walked on without a word.

He didn’t think of Tasir as a rival, but he was a member of the harem. A harem member with the potential to upset the Emperor. He didn’t want to mingle with such individuals.

But Tasir came over with a smile, walked at the same pace, and greeted him.

“Well. We’ve never had a proper conversation before. It’s nice to have this opportunity.”

Tasir’s voice was friendly, but Klein immediately set a boundary.

“Why would we have anything to talk about?”

“Why not? We will have to spend several years together from now on.”

However, Tasir responded with a natural smile. Klein’s attendant secretly admired him. Seeing Tasir’s calm demeanor was refreshing after dealing with Klein’s constant irritability.

“Why are you here?”

However, only the attendant was admiring Tasir, Klein remained surly.

“Actually, I’ve met Emperor Hyacinth in Karisen a long time ago.”

“And what am I supposed to do with that information?”

“That’s how we start a conversation.”

Klein’s attendant was once again impressed by the way Tasir deflected his taunts… He almost applauded without realizing it.

Klein frowned at Tasir. This heir to the company who had come out of nowhere to stick by his side didn’t seem to be bothered by anything he said.

Was he pretending or was he really not bothered? As Klein glared at him, Tasir asked.

“Should we have a more personal conversation? How did you, the Crown Prince of Karisen, end up here in the harem?”

“Is there a problem?”

“You are more than capable of being an emperor, yet here you are in the harem.”

“I suppose that’s true.”

“Do you have any other reasons?”

“Hmm. The Emperor has been in love with me since before she became the emperor.”

“!”

“But because I didn’t accept her feelings easily, she went to these lengths.”

“Ah… Really?”

“You’d wish it was a lie.”

Klein shook his head arrogantly. Tasir blinked in surprise and then glanced at his attendant. His attendant was tilting his head in confusion, as if he was hearing this for the first time.

“You look like you don’t believe me.”

“No, not at all. I believe you.”

The corners of Tasir’s eyes wrinkled in a thin smile. But his true feelings were different. Tasir was thinking, ‘Prince Klein doesn’t know about the relationship between his brother and Emperor Latrasil.’

Seeing his expression, Klein asked in annoyance.

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Ah… I’m sorry. Just seeing you… makes me feel somehow sad.”

“You’re the type to upset people for no reason.”

“Haha. I’ve been told that a lot.”

“You’re strange.”

“Since we met by coincidence, why don’t we talk more about your brother?”

Why was he suggesting they talk about his brother who wasn’t even here? Klein frowned at the strange suggestion, but Tasir successfully hid his true intentions.

“Our company does a lot of trading with foreign countries. We’ve been aggressively doing business with Karisen recently. I thought it would be useful to know more about Emperor Hyacinth.”

Having set the stage, Tasir naturally asked.

“What kind of person is Emperor Hyacinth?”

“He’s greedy. He tries not to let go of anything he wants or needs.”

“Oh. That’s surprising?”

“Moreover, he’s stubborn.”

“Hmm.”

Tasir crossed his arms and nodded, and Klein grabbed his shoulder to stop him. Once Tasir stopped, Klein whispered with a cold smile.

“Merchant. I don’t know what’s going on in your head as you murmur beside me, but if you are helpful to my brother or if he likes you, he will come after you even if you run away. So, there’s no need to calculate this or that.”

[This is the time separator]

“Klein? Has the letter not yet arrived?”

At the Emperor Hyacinth’s question, the chief secretary gave an awkward smile. There wasn’t a single one.

Hyacinth sighed. It’s like a damn younger brother…

He had sent the vice commander of the royal guard, Axsian, but it took nearly a fortnight to get from Karisen to the Tarium Empire. Even if they moved without rest, they would not have arrived yet.

Even knowing this, he was curious about the news from Tarium, because of the woman he had loved, loved, and wanted to be loved by.

Hyacinth sighed and looked at the twinkling chandelier. Every time he blinked, the dazzling light changed direction. In between, Latil from a few years ago floated vaguely.

He remembered lying side by side on the grass, looking at the sun. They made a bet on who could keep their eyes open longer.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away

This is also on my reread list!

This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.

Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.

But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.

Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.

I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.

The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.

As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
