“Guesta was always hanging around the fake king.”

“The king knew that the fake king was a fake, right? So, Guesta had no choice but to do it. To not let the fake one know that he knew the truth.”

“But still, it’s strange.”

“Right. They met too often for people who had to stick together reluctantly.”

“He even sought him out first, didn’t he?”

“And the fake king constantly sought out only Guesta.”

Latil had come into the harem to have lunch with one of her consorts. She heard the servants whispering in a corner.

She stopped and listened quietly to their conversation.

“It’s strange enough that the fake king is a real man. Isn’t it stranger that he is the female king?”

“That’s what I’m saying. Maybe the female king and Guesta….”

“Shh. Be careful with your words.”

“It’s suspicious, isn’t it?”

Latil frowned. It was natural to be upset when people were gossiping about her mother and her consorts. But….

‘The Duke Atraxil said the same thing.’

At the time she heard it, she thought Duke Atraxil was just talking to elevate Ranamun and put down Guesta. But it seemed it wasn’t entirely baseless.

Latil thought of the gentle Guesta, with his sad expression. The careful speaker and quiet actor, Guesta. The innocent Guesta. The kindest and gentlest Guesta.

‘He’s gentle, but he seems to have good adaptability. The kind to get buried without a sound?’

He’d survive and adapt anywhere. Latil clicked her tongue inwardly.

She wouldn’t stir up this matter since Lord King helped her, but the fact that Guesta went out of his way to get close to her mother didn’t sit well with her.

‘He didn’t do that to me, did he? Did Guesta find my mother’s personality more pleasant? Or was it insurance for when I couldn’t come back?’

Regardless, after hearing the whispers about Guesta, she didn’t feel like seeking him out now.

Originally, Latil had come to the harem keeping Duke Atraxil and Lord King in mind. To have a meal with either Ranamun or Guesta, or all three together if the timing was right.

But after hearing that gossip, the scale tilted decidedly.

‘I should go to Ranamun.’

The table was filled with large, plump roast dishes, pies adorned with various fruits, large loaves of bread sprinkled with icing sugar, and a soup revealing mushrooms here and there.

“Eat a lot, Ranamun.”

As Ranamun meticulously observed etiquette yet nibbled on his food, Latil fetched a new fork and knife. She suggested, placing a large slab of meat, glazed with sauce, on his empty plate.

“Thank you,” Ranamun greeted as he looked at the barbecue placed on his plate.

His attitude was as chilly as ever, even after a long time. However, he occasionally glanced at Latil, and when their eyes met, the corners of his mouth lifted faintly. He didn’t show it openly, but he seemed quite pleased that Latil had come to see him.

The beautiful Ranamun, even when quiet, looked charming with just a slight smile, like the touch of a genius painter.

“Eat a lot. You need to eat quite a bit.”

Latil kept adding pudding and dried fruits to his plate, insisting he eat more.

“There’s too much.”

“You’ve barely eaten anything.”

“I usually don’t eat much.”

It wasn’t a lively conversation, but the atmosphere was pleasant. Latil, happy to finally reclaim her place, smiled all the way through, and Ranamun didn’t seem to mind having a meal with Latil after a long time.

“I’m really thankful to Duke Atraxil. He always helps me out with various things.”

“……”

However, as most quarrels go, this time, just when it seemed things were getting better between Latil and Ranamun, they ended up arguing over something insignificant.

The start was Latil expressing her gratitude. It was truly an innocent remark. She was thankful for Duke Atraxil’s help.

But when she lifted her head after cutting her pudding and putting it in her mouth, Ranamun’s already cold expression was colder than ever. So much so, she felt like checking it with a thermometer.

The taste of apple spread in her mouth, but her eyes saw an iceberg. All the sweetness had vanished. Latil cautiously called out to him.

“Ranamun?”

Why did his expression suddenly change?

When Latil called his name, Ranamun smiled as if nothing was wrong, then wiped his lips with a napkin.

“No. I am glad that Your Majesty likes my father.”

“I don’t necessarily ‘like’ your father. Nor do I dislike him, but your expression of ‘liking’ seems a bit strange. Do you understand what I mean?”

“I’m not quick to catch on, so I might not understand well.”

I’m not sure about being slow to catch on, but it seemed like he was pretty quick at hinting things.

Latil swallowed the pudding she had been slowly eating and dropped her spoon in surprise.

‘He seems angry. Why is he angry?’

[This is the time separator]

After the meal. Latil, while exiting the harem to finish her work, analyzed the conversations she had had with Ranamun.

‘I don’t know when he gets angry. Does he have a different button for anger than others?’

When she reached the entrance, she saw Klein, peeking around.

“Klein? What are you doing?”

Who knew that this young gentleman would secretly admire the infamous Seventh Princess?

Short scene 1:

Feng Bai Su looked at the young man crying like a pear blossom in the rain before her, and couldn’t help but doubt her life.

Wasn’t the male lead described as a cold and otherworldly figure in the book?

Then who was this poor little thing crying with swollen red eyes and tear-stained face?

Short scene 2:

Wei Jing Mo stared intently at Feng Bai Su who was about to go out, wanting to say, “Be careful on the road.”

Before he could speak, Feng Bai Su suddenly bent down and bit his cheek.

Her peach blossom eyes were full of disdain: “Tsk! You’re so clingy!”

Wei Jing Mo: “…”
