Prince Hewm wished for his luck in escaping in this chaos, but perhaps due to the many eyes watching, he didn’t. He even pulled out his sword from his waist, unlike last time.

“He used to run in with his mouth wide open.”

Was he trying to save face knowing his own country’s nobles were watching?

“Sure. Prince Hewm isn’t a zombie. He has rationality. The Redlers or the zombies infected by Redlers would blindly attack everything around them.”

Even as she thought, Latil’s body jumped out immediately. The senses she had grown familiar with through long training made her swing her sword the moment she recognized the enemy.

Moving her arm and kicking off the ground with her legs, Latil aimed for Prince Hewm’s neck.

The zombie that Hyacinth had put a sword in the forehead had quieted down with that one blow. She didn’t know if the same method would work on the Zombie Princes, but it didn’t hurt to try.

“I’m fighting with the prince.”

“Is that really Prince Hewm? My God.”

“What is happening? Why are the dead…”

“Isn’t that woman Her Majesty’s person?”

While the nobles clung to the gate and murmured while watching, Latil fought with Prince Hewm using her sword.

She saw him as easy prey since he had previously run towards her and then fled, but unexpectedly, when the swords clashed, the prince proved to be quite skilled. Latil frowned.

“His power…”

Was it an ability gained through resurrection? Looking at his reaction speed and swordsmanship skills, Prince Hewm was far from reaching the level of even a few.

However, the strength she felt when their swords collided was fierce enough to make her wrists tingle after a few collisions.

Still, the more their swords clashed, the more she gradually got the sense of how to deal with him. While avoiding headon clashes, Latil deflected his attacks and persistently targeted Hewm’s head.

[Why isn’t he creating that strange shield this time?]

Thoughts of Hewm occasionally flowed into her head, but apart from knowing which way he would attack, it wasn’t very helpful.

“I agree, kid. Why aren’t you running away today?”

Right when Hyacinth seemed anxious, unable to intervene due to the high speed of the sword exchanges, Latil felt something was off.

In the moment she lost her balance as she stumbled on a rock due to being pushed by the opponent’s sword, Latil had an odd feeling that ‘something’ had been pulled out of her as she swung her sword.

It was an unfamiliar sensation that was indistinguishable between reality and fiction.

“No!”

Almost at the same time, she heard Ainie shout.

As Latil regained her balance, she saw Hewm approaching her, raising his sword. But oddly enough, his eyes were bulging. As if he’d seen something that shouldn’t be there.

Regardless of his expression, if it continued like this, her neck would be pierced. Hewm, who was stabbing downward, shook, and Latil, regaining her balance, slashed at his side.

‘It’s low!’

She had aimed for his neck. It was too low.

However, Hewm ignored the wound, instead of resuming the attack, he alternately looked at Latil and Ainie and hurriedly fled.

Latil tried to pursue, but the escape speed of the opponent was too fast. As soon as Hewm disappeared, Latil stopped chasing and let out a sigh.

Although she had chased Hewm away, she felt uncomfortable.

The worry she first had when she saw a cursed corpse for the first time. What if such a cursed corpse fell in the middle of a place where there were many people, that worry had jumped into reality.

“Wow!”

“My God! Is she a holy knight?”

“That’s amazing!”

However, at the sudden thunderous cheers, Latil was startled and looked to the side.

Inside, the nobles were standing by the gate and cheering, presumably because the situation had been completely resolved. Some were clapping.

Looking around, Latil walked towards the gate when she confirmed there were no other enemies, keeping her sword pointing downwards.

As Latil approached, Hyacinth, who had been tense all along, finally relaxed and patted her shoulder with a smile.

“You’re as strong as ever, Sir Sadi.”

“Why are you all watching from here?”

“The knights have all been suppressed and the injured are bound, just in case. According to the soldiers who went out to check, fortunately, it seems like the disturbance only happened inside.”

Latil nodded, relieved somewhat.

Was it because the instigator of this situation was the crown prince? She didn’t know what would happen later, but it seemed the Crown Prince Heum had no plans to turn his entire country into a den of zombies. She could tell by the fact that only one Redler had infiltrated the nobles.

“Carlein?”

Hyacinth pointed inward with his eyes. Carlein, unable to come see Latil due to the crowd, was seen awkwardly standing.

Latil handed the sword back to Hyacinth’s imperial knight and was about to walk towards Carlein when she noticed Louis, who was stuck right next to Ainy. Louis was looking at her with a pale face, and noticeably flinched when their eyes met.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away

This is also on my reread list!

This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.

Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.

But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.

Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.

I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.

The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.

As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
