Everyone who was going to the city walls had already left, so there was almost no one roaming around inside the palace. Lean walked all the way to the Lion’s Palace without meeting anyone.

When he reached the area where small houses clustered like a tiny village, Lean finally stopped in his tracks.

Why did you come here? Raccoon Panda tilted his head curiously.

While he was wondering, Lean entered one of the houses. Raccoon Panda tried to follow inside, but the door slammed shut right in front of his nose, blocking his way.

Raccoon Panda paced back and forth in front of the door before stepping back a short distance.

Aksian coated his blade with holy water and slashed through the monster’s hair. Though the strands flew toward him swiftly, their tightly bundled mass made it easy to locate them.

Wherever the hair struck, corners of wagons and trees were cleanly sliced away, but Aksian’s holy-water-coated blade easily cut through the strands instead.

As he deflected the hair this way and that, Aksian pondered how best to destroy the monster’s main head. He was also troubled by the cloud of blood nearby, which kept transforming into vapor each time it touched the hair.

“Your Highness!”

Then Aksian spotted Klein climbing along the hair. Klein was leaping quickly across the strands, pressing them down with his sword to keep his footing. Remarkably, he kept his balance atop the wildly whipping hair.

“Your Highness! It’s dangerous!”

Startled, Aksian called out—but the monster had already swept away the hair, leaving him unable to follow the prince.

“Damn it!”

Aksian leaped down from the driver’s seat and opened the rear door of the wagon. Inside were supplies—and among them, a bow.
