Cro opened the heavy basement door, summoned light into his hand, and hurriedly rushed down the steep stairs. The hollow echoing sound beneath his feet seemed to be chasing him, making him even more frantic.

The Emperor was cunning and crafty—he might have already set everything in motion during the brief moment Cro had looked away, which filled him with worry.

As he walked down the long underground passage, Cro pulled out a pea-shaped bean from his pocket and scattered it onto the floor. Immediately, legs sprouted from the beans that touched the ground, and they began dashing ahead even faster than Cro.

“Go stop the intruders! Quickly!”

Issuing an order that sounded utterly absurd, Cro hiked up his cumbersome robe. He had run for some time when angry shouts came from ahead.
