Jae Ha pushed Ji Han away as he tried to close the car door I had opened.
Jae Ha’s cold gaze met Ji Han’s eyes.
I glanced back and forth between Jae Ha, gesturing for me to get in the car, and Ji Han, who was glaring at him fiercely.
‘Both of them make me uneasy.’
“I’m getting in.”
Since Ji Han wasn’t in a state to talk, I eventually sat in the passenger seat after looking at both of them.
A deep sigh escaped me as I settled into the car.
Jae Ha blocked Ji Han, who seemed ready to charge at any moment.
“That person is my fiancée. What are you doing, brother?”
Jae Ha approached Ji Han as if to touch him, their gazes locked with Ji Han’s fierce eyes.
“Don’t you be overbearing either. And why is she your fiancée?”
At Jae Ha’s provocative response, Ji Han nervously brushed his hair back, seeming to reach the limits of his patience.
“Enough, okay? I have limits to what I can endure too.”
“Didn’t you hear it too? The words about breaking off the engagement at the general meeting.”
“That was just a spurofthemoment thing! Yoon Yeo Jin, aren’t you getting out?”
He glared threateningly at Jae Ha and then knocked on the passenger window where I was seated.
Jae Ha pushed the persistent Ji Han away.
“She said she won’t get out. Stop forcing her and go. If you have something to say, do it through a lawyer.”
He warned Ji Han in a low, subdued voice and then returned to sit in the driver’s seat.
The car started moving slowly.
As we moved further away, I saw through the side mirror that Ji Han, enraged, stomped on the ground. Then, he appeared to make a call somewhere.
“Sigh.”
As Ji Han completely disappeared from my sight, the breath I had been holding burst out.
“Are you alright?”
While driving and looking ahead, Jae Ha glanced at me and asked if I was alright.
Was I alright?
‘No, this kind of worry is a luxury.’
Not wanting to appear weak over such a trivial matter, I gave Jae Ha a faint smile.
“I was just reminded of the past. I’m fine.”
“Close your eyes and rest. I’ll wake you up when we arrive home.”
Memories of my past life flooded in like a broken dam, making my eyes tremble.
It seemed like I needed a break, as he suggested.
“Thank you. I’ll close my eyes for a moment then.”
How much time had passed?
I opened my eyes, feeling a gentle shake on my shoulder.
“We’re here.”
Looking out the window, I saw the familiar apartment complex.
Jae Ha unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car after parking.
“Where are you going?”
‘Isn’t this my home?’
I couldn’t understand why he was getting out of the car, so I asked.
He glanced at me and nonchalantly pressed the elevator button.
“I’m going up.”
“What? Why?”
As the elevator arrived and opened, Jae Ha stepped in first.
When I looked up, puzzled, he nodded for me to get in.
“Don’t you remember we were going to talk?”
“…Oh, right.”
I recalled that he had suggested going home together to talk before we left the W Corporation building.
Thanks to Ji Han’s interference, I was too preoccupied to find the opportunity to talk in the car.
“Get in. It’s going to close.”
Jae Ha’s lips stretched into a relaxed smile as he said this.
As I opened the door, darkness filled the visible interior of the house.
Seeing a large box placed at the entrance, Jae Ha’s expression turned to one of shock.
“What is all this? Are you planning to move?”
“That’s Ji Han Seo’s stuff.”
It was just yesterday’s event. It was the same luggage that Ji Han had brought over unannounced.
As the items were light and it was embarrassing to call someone for help, I had stuffed them in haphazardly, making the disordered contents of the box clearly visible.
“Ji Han moved his stuff?”
“Yesterday. He came over suddenly and left it here, saying we should combine our households.”
“Ah, so that’s why he suddenly hung up the phone yesterday.”
He must not have thought it was for this reason.
Jae Ha squinted one eye as if recalling how I had hurriedly hung up the phone last night.
“Are you going to clean it all up?”
“I have to.”
He looked at the box and asked me.
Jae Ha nodded and took his phone out of his jacket, making a call somewhere.
“Is Han, the secretary, downstairs? Come up for a moment.”
I didn’t know his secretary was waiting. I didn’t remember seeing Han, the secretary, at the shareholders’ meeting either.
“Unless told otherwise, they usually wait.”
Before I could ask, he answered me with a surprised expression.
Then he gave me a faint smile and went into the living room.
It wasn’t even a few minutes after Jae Ha made the call that Han, the secretary, came to the house.
“Madam, hello. Chairman, did you need me?”
“Do you see that box at the entrance? Can you send that and the things Yeo Jin tells you to Ji Han Seo?”
“Yes. What other items are you referring to?”
Han, the secretary, who nodded to Jae Ha, approached me.
“It’s nothing much, just a few wedding photos inside the house. They’re quite heavy.”
“Ah, the framed ones. And should I take that photo on the wall too?”
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
