After the nervewracking yet not nervewracking encounter with Seo Rin, it was already time to leave work once the radio news broadcast had finished.
I was about to head straight to the lobby to collect my things.
“Yoon Announcer, are you leaving now?”
I turned around at the sound of a voice coming from behind.
A familiar News9 staff member greeted me warmly.
“Yes. Since it’s my first day today, there’s no broadcast, so I’m leaving early. See you tomorrow.”
“Take care.”
I hurriedly went down the stairs, as I had to be quick to catch the hospital visitation hours.
As I was about to pass the lobby, I caught sight of Jae Ha sitting at a distant café.
I wondered how he was the first person I noticed among the crowd.

Jae Ha also seemed to recognize me immediately and stood up from his seat.
“What brings you here?”
“I had some business here, and then I saw Yeo Jin coming down the stairs over there.”
As I approached Jae Ha and asked, he pointed to the stairs in the center of the lobby.
I tilted my head, wondering what business he had at the broadcasting station at this time.
Feeling my emotions, he added.
“I thought we could have a meal together since it’s time for you to leave work.”
I could see people passing by us, glancing at Jae Ha.
His appearance was indeed striking.
Jae Ha’s presence, dressed neatly in a suit, stood out among the broadcasting station employees passing by.

“Ah… What should I do? I have somewhere to go.”
“Oh, you have a prior engagement? That’s a shame.”
It meant that he had something to discuss with me since he had been waiting.
As I looked up at him with a troubled expression, Jae Ha smiled naturally and waved his hand.
“It’s okay. If it’s a prior commitment, there’s nothing we can do.”
“It’s not a commitment. I’m going to visit my parents at the hospital.”
At the unexpected destination, Jae Ha’s playful face suddenly turned serious.
The atmosphere became quite different from before.
“Are both of their conditions not good?”
“A bit. I received a call from Dr. Kim in the afternoon saying that their conditions had worsened.”

“I’ll go with you. I’ll take you there.”
He checked his watch and hurriedly took my wrist before I even finished speaking.
Before I knew it, I was led by him to where his car was parked.
I casually spoke while looking at Jae Ha’s back as he led the way.
“I can go alone, you know.”
“I’m not okay with that. Get in.”
I told him it was fine if he didn’t give me a ride, but Jae Ha firmly rejected my words.
In the end, I got into his car.
“Is it Daejin Hospital?”
“Yes.”

As I nodded towards Jae Ha setting up the navigation, he immediately started the car.
The road to the hospital was enveloped in silence.
I was momentarily flustered by his kindness, but I soon thought it was a good thing.
It had been a tiring day, with my first day at work and the unexpected confrontation with Seo Rin adding to my fatigue.
‘I’m lucky.’
I didn’t have the confidence to drive, so it was fortunate that he offered to go with me.
Lost in thought, I heard his low voice in my ear.
“If you’re cold, we can turn up the temperature.”
“No, it’s fine.”
Although I did feel a bit cold, I shook my head as there wasn’t much time left until we arrived at the hospital.

He glanced at me, huddled up, and turned up the air conditioning.
“It’s fine. Saying it’s okay when it’s not is a bad habit.”
How did he know it was a habit…?
Saying it’s okay even when it’s not really was like a habit for me.
I often couldn’t feel it because I said it habitually.
“Here, cover yourself with this.”
He reached to the back seat, took out a jacket, and handed it to me.
As I covered myself with the jacket he handed me, a warm heat enveloped me.
What is this…
Both at the funeral hall last time and now, I felt an inexplicable comfort from the jacket he offered.

“You said you were auditioning.”
His voice entered my ear as I looked at him concentrating on driving again.
“How did you know that?”
I was amazed by his information, as it was an audition that hadn’t even been announced yet.
Moreover, he knew I had applied for that audition.
“There are ways to find out everything.”
It was an absurd answer, but I chuckled at his confident words.
Jae Ha caught a glimpse of the smile on my lips and gave a faint smile.
“You’re finally smiling. You took a year off, will you be alright?”
“It’s something I’ve always done. No big deal.”

I thought he would just drop me off at the hospital and head back, but he naturally accompanied me to the VIP ward where my parents were.
And we saw Dr. Kim waiting in front of my parents’ room.
“You’re here? CEO Seo is here too.”
“Dr. Kim. It’s been a while since I saw you at my checkup before going to the US.”
Dr. Kim greeted Jae Ha, whom he hadn’t seen in a long time, with a pleased look and then approached me.
Seeing my parents, who were now being administered even more medication than before, my heart felt heavy.
“Dr. Kim, how are my parents?”
“As I told you earlier today, there’s no improvement. They haven’t regained consciousness.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
