At first, I was so flustered that I even forgot that my call with Jae Ha was connected.

It was only after I got into the car that I realized my call with Jae Ha had been connected.

What’s going on? Where are we going?

“Ah, we’re going to a penthouse in Hannamdong right now. It seems… Ms. Oh has returned to the country.”

Checking out the man driving in front, I spoke in a small voice so that only Jae Ha could hear.

And there was a moment of silence from Jae Ha at the mention of Ms. Oh.

Wait, you’re going to meet that woman now? By penthouse, you mean the house owned by Ji Han, right?

“Yes. That’s right. I had a call during the disciplinary committee meeting, but I didn’t expect them to send someone like this.”

Ms. Oh had said she wanted to have dinner with me, but I was not excited about dining with her.

The biological mother of Ji Han and my former motherinlaw.

What I knew about Ms. Oh was that she came in to replace Jae Ha’s biological mother after her death.

And, like the current Seo Rin, she was an extramarital affair of Vice Chairman Seo Min Kook.

During my five years of marriage, I could count the number of times I directly faced Ms. Oh on one hand.

She was intensely disliked by Chairman Seo, so she could not freely come and go to Korea.

I hadn’t met her many times, but I could feel an undeniable vulgarity from her.

That’s why I was about to politely decline, but I didn’t expect her to show up so abruptly.

Jae Ha, on the other end of the line, sighed deeply at my brief explanation.

Ha, do you really have to go there?

“Um. Not necessarily, but I’m curious why she looked for me as soon as she returned.”

Ms. Oh had braved Chairman Seo’s hatred and returned to the country.

And the fact that she looked for me as soon as she arrived meant that she wanted something from me.

Even though I didn’t know the exact details, it was clear that it was something related to Ji Han.

Then I’ll wait. I’m leaving now.

“You’re leaving? I think it’s okay to go alone. She doesn’t seem that threatening.”

I got out of the car and walked towards the elevator.

Despite being on a call with Jae Ha, the man showed no particular interest in my actions.

All I had to do was listen to what she wanted and appear at the right time. If Jae Ha also showed up, it seemed the situation would get more complicated.

Moreover, my already confused mind wouldn’t be able to handle it.

No. Yeo Jin, that woman is a darkhearted person. She’s not an easy opponent.

A tense voice, unusual for Jae Ha, flowed from the other end of the phone.

Jae Ha seemed to have more resentment towards Ms. Oh than I thought.

Got it? Don’t hang up, just put it in your pocket.

As I listened to Jae Ha’s continuing words, I saw an open door as I got out of the elevator.

And in front of the open door was Ms. Oh, dressed in a light home dress, as if she had heard that I would arrive.

“Yeo Jin, are you here? I’ve been waiting.”

She showed me a friendly face that she had never shown me in my previous life.

Then, a strong perfume scent wafted from Ms. Oh as she approached me.

.

.

.

As I followed Ms. Oh through the living room and into the brightly lit terrace, I saw a lavish feast laid out on the table.

She pointed to the empty seat across from her and flashed a sly smile.

“I’ve invited a famous local chef because you said you like French cuisine.”

‘Did I say I like French cuisine?’

Seeing my puzzled expression, she added an explanation.

“Ji Han said you would, right?”

I remembered vaguely skirting around the question when Ji Han’s secretary had asked me for a restaurant reservation.

I sneered at the twisted joke.

After all, she had never even been interested in what I liked.

There was no way she would know what kind of food I liked.

While I wasn’t particularly picky about food, I preferred Korean cuisine over Western.

Especially, I liked the homecooked meals prepared by Mr. Seo Jae Ha.

I felt more like a couple with Jae Ha, whom I had known for only a few months, than with Ji Han, whom I had lived with for five years in one house.

“Did he say that? I didn’t know this was going to be such a grand dining event.”

If I had known it would be such a burdensome occasion, I wouldn’t have come.

“How could I treat the precious daughter of the house casually when seeing her before the engagement and a year later? Let’s sit down.”

I sat facing Ms. Oh.

Looking at the plates filling the table, I felt queasy even before tasting the food.

“Do you like snail dishes? I don’t have a taste for these. Server, bring this forward for her.”

A server from the back appeared and moved a large plate in front of me.

If she had gone to this extent to arrange the seating, it meant that I was in a very regrettable state.

As our eyes met while she was tilting her wine glass and savoring its aroma, Ms. Oh gave me a sly smile.

“Madam. If you have something to say, please say it. I don’t think you would’ve called me all the way here just because Ji Han and I divorced over a meal.”

Moreover, it would’ve been better to starve than to have a meal at such a suffocating place with an uncomfortable person.

As I set down the utensil I was holding, Ms. Oh’s affectionate gaze sparkled.

“You’re more straightforward than I thought. Alright, if that’s your intention, I want to ask.”

“……”

“Was the reason for your divorce with my son because of that woman?”

As she placed the wine glass that she had been sipping from on the table, Ms. Oh asked.

As she brought up the main topic, her gaze, sharper than before, met mine.

“Was it Chae Seo Rin, the caster? I mean, your very close junior from the broadcasting station.”

As the unpleasant name came out of her mouth, I unknowingly furrowed my brows.

Suddenly feeling a strong thirst, I gulped down the water in front of me.

Perhaps thinking that my expression had answered her question, Ms. Oh continued.

“Would there be no problem if it weren’t for that woman? If your junior wasn’t there, could the two of you get back together?”

“I think I heard wrong. Could you please repeat that?”

“I asked if you could get back together with Ji Han.”

I let out a dry laugh at her, who was staring at me as if she was sincere.

A wave of anger surged up, and I gripped the glass of water tightly.

Ms. Oh lifted the corners of her mouth with an even more venomous gaze than before.

“Considering your relationship with Ji Han all this while, just come back.”

“……”

“Chae Seo Rin, take that girl away from my son’s side. Forever.”

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.
