A sunny weekend.

Do Jun’s car came to a stop in front of Tae Yeon’s family home.

As she stepped out of the car, the hot wind tousled Tae Yeon’s hair wildly.

After double-checking her appearance, she stood before the tall, black gate—yet still hesitated, unable to press the doorbell right away.

This always happened whenever she visited this house. She dreaded stepping inside.

Perhaps she knew that once she entered, the oppressive weight of the black gate would be the least of what she’d have to endure.

Her free hand, tightly gripping her bag, trembled faintly. Watching her, Do Jun quietly reached out beside her.

Now two fingers reached toward the doorbell together. Startled by the warmth transmitted through his hand resting atop hers, Tae Yeon flinched.

“Ms. Jin Tae Yeon, stay behind me.”

Do Jun pressed the doorbell. After verifying their faces, the gate groaned open with a dull sound.

Still holding Tae Yeon’s hand, Do Jun interlaced their fingers, stepped inside first, and gently pulled her in after him.

As they walked past the spacious garden toward the house, Do Jun whispered to Tae Yeon,

“I plan to wrap up the meal as quickly as possible and leave.”

Hearing that was a welcome relief.

Just as Tae Yeon was about to reply, the front door swung open abruptly, and President Jin appeared.
