“I had something to say as well, which is why I came here today.” Do Jun’s determined gaze caused President Jin to nod his head fervently.
“Well, go ahead, soninlaw. Speak up.”
“I think you might be overly doting on Tae Yeon.”
“…Pardon?”
Caught off guard, President Jin furrowed his brows.
“What do you mean by that?”
“I was wondering if I should say this or not. I’ve pondered it quite a bit.”
When Do Jun paused, President Jin’s face turned pale as if he was on the verge of choking. Do Jun observed President Jin’s reactions with keen eyes.
“Whenever it’s just the two of us, Tae Yeon’s phone rings incessantly.”
President Jin and Hye Sook would alternate in calling Tae Yeon. If she didn’t answer, they’d persist until she did. It was an incredibly obsessive fixation.
Tae Yeon always looked uncomfortable as she switched her phone to silent mode.
President Jin reached out, attempting to explain.
“Ah, that’s because…”
“It feels more like surveillance rather than a loving call to a daughter.”
Do Jun wasn’t there to listen to President Jin’s excuses. He had simply come to relay what he had to say.
“I can’t spend quality time with Tae Yeon because someone keeps intruding.”
Do Jun’s words were tender, but his gaze was not. It was as cold and icy as a glacier. It was a clear warning to the president sitting across from him.
“Do you expect to see your grandchild like this?”
President Jin’s mouth gaped open. He was utterly shocked by Do Jun’s audacious statement.
Yet, President Jin was so overwhelmed by Do Jun’s aura that he could not say a word.

In an attempt to calm his nerves, President Jin reached for his drink.
The glass was empty, probably due to the fact that he had drained it earlier. Much like his vacant gaze.
Do Jun asked, his tone suggesting that he couldn’t quite comprehend President Jin’s surprise.
“Why are you so surprised?”
“Ah, no. It’s just that… your affection towards our Tae Yeon is a bit…”
“Shocking?”
“Eh? No, no.”
President Jin stuttered, chuckling awkwardly.
It was indeed an odd situation. Any fatherinlaw would typically be happy that their daughter, especially a married one, was being loved so much. Yet here was a fatherinlaw shocked by his soninlaw’s affection towards his daughter.
Do Jun smirked.
“Isn’t it ridiculous for two people in an arranged marriage to be awkward and distant?”
President Jin just silently listened to what Do Jun was saying, his face filled with fear of what bombshell might drop next.
“Even though it started as an emotionless business deal, you never know what can happen with people, right?”
Do Jun’s icy expression softened as a faint smile graced his lips. But President Jin still could not readily reciprocate the smile.
“Oh… yes.”
Do Jun poured more alcohol into President Jin’s empty glass.
“My wife is such a lovely woman. I understand why you and my motherinlaw want to take care of her so much.”
“….”
“But she’s my wife now.”
“Yes… right.”
“I think it might be time to let go of your excessive attachment.”
Though his tone was suggestive, the underlying message was crystal clear: Leave Jin Tae Yeon alone.

Do Jun added one more comment.
“I happen to have a very strong desire for possession.”
“Is that so?”
“The reason KK Entertainment has reached number one in the U.S., starting from nothing, might just be due to that possessiveness.”
President Jin looked bewildered as to why Do Jun was suddenly bringing this up.
“Same goes for people.”
Do Jun raised an eyebrow, staring intently at President Jin.
At this point, President Jin would have understood what Do Jun was trying to convey.
Not having anything to say, President Jin took a full gulp of the drink Do Jun had poured.
Even though Do Jun didn’t outright say what he intended, it was quite clear.
His message was simple: Tae Yeon is mine. Stop meddling.
Any provocation towards Tae Yeon equated to stepping on Do Jun’s toes.
Fortunately, President Jin, who was quick on the uptake, seemed to understand Do Jun’s intention perfectly.
Sweating profusely, President Jin gave an awkward smile.

“I and my wife called Tae Yeon so often. We were just a bit worried about how Tae Yeon was doing…”
“Wasn’t it because you thought your wife couldn’t properly play the role of a stepping stone for the business, and you wanted to monitor that?”
“Huh?”
At the pointed question, President Jin dropped the glass he was holding onto the table.
He lowered his trembling hand under the table to hide it, but he couldn’t hide his trembling pupils.
“It seems that President Jin only thought of this marriage as business.”
“Well… Of course. Between two companies…”
“If it’s business, there should be something mutual. What can KK Group gain from Cha Shin Dairy?”
“Why wouldn’t we gain anything? Our dairy products…”
“Is it a lack of conscience? Or a lack of thought?”
At Do Jun’s muttering, President Jin finally closed his mouth.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
