Until arriving home, Do Joon didn’t say a word.

As Do Joon maintained his silence even while getting out of the car and heading to the front door, Tae Yeon spoke first.

“Do Joon.”

Do Joon turned his body and looked at Tae Yeon. His cold black eyes were wholly focused on her.

“I know it’s something you might misunderstand.”

“…”

“It’s not that kind of strange relationship you’re thinking of.”

“Do you think I would believe that excuse?”

Do Joon had an astonishingly cold expression. Cold enough to freeze everything around him.

“I only believe what I see with my own eyes.”

Tae Yeon let out a faint sigh.

As Do Joon said, Min Hyun’s actions towards her today were certainly open to misinterpretation.

Still, she felt truly wronged.

“I was surprised too. Suddenly he looked somewhere, then Min Hyun tried to grab my hand and did things he doesn’t usually do.”

Do Joon tilted his head slightly and put on a languid smile, as if telling her to continue.

“I was startled and avoided it. But I understand you could easily misunderstand.”

“Jin Tae Yeon, trust is the most important thing between a married couple.”

“Yes, that’s right.”

Tae Yeon nibbled on her lower lip.

The two of them were nothing more than a show window couple. They only had to pretend to be affectionate in front of others.

It also meant there were no real feelings between them.

So there was only one reason why Do Joon was getting angry like this.

He seemed to be worried about unfounded rumors spreading about their relationship.

“Do Joon, I’m sorry about today. I should have been more careful outside.”

Do Joon stared blankly at Tae Yeon as she apologized.

“Jin Tae Yeon, what is your true self?”

“Pardon?”

“I’m asking what you’re hiding from me.”

Tae Yeon just blinked her eyes, not fully understanding what Do Joon was saying.

Hiding?

Could he possibly be referring to the agreement with President Jin to divorce after fulfilling the agreed-upon period?

Even knowing Do Joon couldn’t possibly know about that, she found herself tensing up involuntarily.

Do Joon looked coldly at the speechless Tae Yeon and said what he wanted to say.

“It seems there are many sides of you that I don’t know about.”

His voice was clearly sarcastic.

“Earlier at the restaurant, did you pretend to avoid that man’s touch because there were many people around?”

“Do Joon!”

Tae Yeon, who had been listening quietly, raised her voice.

“You may not know me well, of course, but what you just said crossed a line.”

Do Joon raised one eyebrow and furrowed his brow.

“I’ve been trying my best not to cause you any trouble.”

After Do Joon suddenly returned to Korea without a word, she had been living each day in tension, having to pretend to be a loving couple.

Even so, she wanted to do her best. At least during the period she was by Do Joon’s side as his wife.

Perhaps feeling very wronged, Tae Yeon’s large eyes filled with tears.

Then tears began to roll down her peach-colored cheeks.

Tae Yeon, surprised at herself, hurriedly wiped the tears with the back of her hand.

Still, not leaving immediately, Tae Yeon said what she had been holding back. She couldn’t bear it anymore.

“Do Joon, you’ve been hinting that I have some hidden man since last time. If you’re so curious, why don’t you just investigate me yourself?”

“What did you just say?”

“No, go ahead. It might be better if you put someone on me to investigate and see the results yourself.”

This time it was Do Joon who was left speechless. Clear liquid was still flowing from Tae Yeon’s eyes.

It was the first time Tae Yeon had burst into tears in front of him. Her slender shoulders were trembling.

Not knowing what to do, Do Joon’s lips quivered. Tae Yeon was crying like someone who was truly wronged.

She spoke while trying to suppress her shaking voice.

“I’ll commute separately for a while.”

“Jin Tae Yeon.”

“I think it’s best if we use separate rooms until your misunderstanding about me is cleared up.”

As Tae Yeon turned to go inside, as if she had nothing more to say, Do Joon grabbed her wrist with a loud slap.

“I’m sorry for misunderstanding.”

Tae Yeon twisted her arm and pulled her wrist free from his grasp. Then, unlike her usual self, she spoke firmly in a cold voice.

“No. I’ll accept your apology when you’ve completely resolved your misunderstanding about me.”

“…”

“What you’re saying now is just words to get past the situation.”

Tae Yeon unlocked the door first and headed into their newlywed home.

Even after the door closed with a thud and the sensor light in the entryway turned off, Do Joon didn’t move.

“Haa.”

Do Joon rubbed his face with both hands, giving himself a dry wash.

“This wasn’t my intention.”

Had he pushed too hard?

He felt like he was going crazy, unable to get the image of her pitiful tear-stained face out of his mind.

Considering others’ feelings was something quite foreign to Do Joon.

He was used to others always accommodating his moods.

“Ha. I didn’t want to make her cry though.”

Whether he closed his eyes or opened them,

He kept seeing Tae Yeon’s face as she cried in front of him.

After standing there for a while, Do Joon also moved into the house.

Mrs. Choi spotted him and smiled awkwardly.

She must have heard all the sounds of him and Tae Yeon fighting. She would have seen her go into the room crying as well.

But now wasn’t the time to worry about that. He had to take care of Tae Yeon.

Do Joon knocked on the bedroom door where Tae Yeon would be.

“Jin Tae Yeon.”

There was no answer. Do Joon hesitated for a moment, then spoke.

“I’m truly sorry for what I said earlier.”

“…”

“The truth is, I was jealous.”

It wasn’t something he said because he was conscious of Mrs. Choi. It wasn’t a calculated statement either.

Do Joon himself was startled to hear the words that flowed from his own mouth.

[This is the timeline separator]

Sitting on the bed wiping her tears, Tae Yeon was regretting.

“Why did I cry there?”

Though she felt wronged, there was no reason to show tears in front of Do Joon.

Min Hyun’s unexpected behavior today was certainly enough to cause misunderstanding from Do Joon’s perspective.

Even trying to think that way, strangely, the feeling of hurt wouldn’t go away.

“It’s okay. Just endure for 6 months.”

Once this period passed, she wouldn’t need to put on this ridiculous act anymore, and she could disappear from Do Joon’s side.

Around the time her tears stopped, she heard a knock on the bedroom door.

Thinking it must be Mrs. Choi, Tae Yeon bit her lip and let out a deep sigh.

Belatedly, Tae Yeon regretted showing this side of herself in front of Mrs. Choi.

“Haa. This will surely reach Chairman Cha’s ears as well…”

She was planning to go back out to the living room and speak to Mrs. Choi while pretending to be fine.

As Tae Yeon was checking her face in the mirror,

Do Joon’s low voice resonated from outside.

“Jin Tae Yeon.”

She was surprised once to find that the person knocking outside wasn’t Mrs. Choi but Do Joon.

And surprised twice by his words that followed.

“The truth is, I was jealous.”

Tae Yeon just blinked her big eyes, unable to believe what she had heard.

Do Joon continued speaking.

“May I come in?”

Tae Yeon approached the door and turned the handle. Through the slightly opened door, Do Joon stood there, not knowing what to do.

Do Joon pushed the door open further and entered the bedroom.

He closed the door with a click and stared intently at Tae Yeon’s face, the skin around her eyes reddened.

Tae Yeon avoided his gaze. And she apologized for suddenly crying in front of him.

“I’m sorry about earlier.”

“Why are you apologizing?”

“I shouldn’t have shown that side of myself in front of Mrs. Choi…”

Do Joon roughly ran a hand through his bangs.

“Today was entirely my fault.”

Though there was no response from Tae Yeon, Do Joon continued speaking.

“I’m sorry. I’ve been on edge lately.”

“No. I completely understand why you reacted this way.”

Tae Yeon raised her head and looked up at Do Joon. Her face was fully reflected in his deep, quiet eyes.

“If my actions become a problem and reach Chairman Cha’s ears, that can’t happen…”

Tae Yeon clasped her fidgeting hands tightly.

“I’ll be more careful from now on.”

This was the end of what they had to say to each other.

Promising to be a seemingly affectionate show window couple, Tae Yeon got up from the bed.

Do Joon blocked her path. Tae Yeon unconsciously took a step back at the sight of his broad shoulders before her.

“I meant what I said earlier.”

“Which part?”

“That I’m sorry.”

“Ah, yes. I heard your apology.”

“And that I was jealous.”

“… Jealous?”

Jealousy.

It was an awkward word to be exchanged between the two of them.

Bewilderment filled Tae Yeon’s face.

“I absolutely hate it when someone touches what’s mine.”

“…”

“I was furious when I saw that bastard trying to touch your hand and cheek earlier.”

“What?”

Does this man even know what he’s saying?

Tae Yeon, who had been listening quietly, corrected his words.

“Isn’t that closer to possessiveness rather than jealousy?”

And immediately regretted saying it.

‘Possessiveness? What am I saying?’

Knowing there was no way Do Joon would feel that way about her.

As Tae Yeon was about to correct her sudden words, Do Joon nodded and admitted it.

“You’re right. That seems like a more fitting expression.”

“What?”

“Jealousy and possessiveness, it seems to be somewhere in between.”

Tae Yeon smiled awkwardly, narrowing her eyes.

“Have you… been drinking?”

“Me?”

Do Joon chuckled.

“You mean it sounds that crazy?”

“Yes… You keep saying things that don’t make sense.”

Do Joon pulled at the corners of his mouth, looking at Tae Yeon who was being unusually honest today.

“After all, Jin Tae Yeon is my wife.”

“…”

“Which means you belong to me.”

Do Joon took another step closer, significantly narrowing the distance between them.

“I can’t let another man touch your cheek first when I haven’t even properly touched it myself.”

No sooner had those words ended than Tae Yeon felt a warm sensation on her cheek.

Tae Yeon’s eyes widened significantly as she tried to back away, but Do Joon was already firmly holding her waist.

“You can do the same to me as much as you want.”

“Do what…”

“Possessiveness, jealousy. And all these little touches too.”

Tae Yeon just smiled awkwardly without any response.

“Because we’re married.”
