The place Do Jun entered was a newly opened pharmacy.
And not long after, Do Jun emerged holding a bag filled with something.
It was an object in stark contrast with Do Jun, who was dressed in an elegant, designer suit.
Once in the car, Do Jun retrieved a box of medicine from the white bag. He popped out a dose of pills as instructed by the pharmacist, placing them in his large hand.
His hand offering the medicine was tender, but his face was cold and stiff.
Much like the day when they were shooting the wedding, when Tae Yeon looked cold, he offered her his suit.
“First, it might be good to take these.”
“Thank you.”
Tae Yeon reached out to take the pills.
Her finger touched Do Jun’s palm as she tried to pick up the tiny pills.
It was an insignificant touch, but oddly, her finger that made contact with his hand tingled.
Hastily, Tae Yeon picked up the pills and drew her hand back.

There was no change in Do Jun’s expression, as if he hadn’t noticed her hand touch his at all.
“Chairman Cha, I apologize for the situation caused by my insistence on sending help.”
Seeing his sincere apology, Tae Yeon also apologized.
“I was too awkward this morning. It’s a bit difficult to act as if I’m seeing a loved one. I’m sorry.”
Tae Yeon awkwardly smiled, as if genuinely sorry.
Do Jun stared hard at Tae Yeon’s face.
He knew all too well that her statement about finding it hard to act as if she was seeing a loved one was a lie.
She would have to adapt to the fact that she was spewing lies as easily as eating a meal with that innocent face.
Thinking this, Do Jun let out a soft chuckle.
“You did well. After all, you did kiss my cheek.”
“That was not a kiss… It was a peck.”
Seeing Tae Yeon clearly correct him, Do Jun smirked.
“Okay, let’s call it a peck.”
Do Jun opened the pills and placed them on her hand so it would be easier for her to take.
He stayed silent, as if he would wait until she took the pills.

After Tae Yeon swallowed the pills, she nodded her head as if signaling that it was okay to go. Do Jun smoothly drove the car.
“If you continue to feel unwell, I’ll call Dr. Kim.”
“No, there’s no need for that. I just felt a little queasy.”
“Keep me updated about your condition. I’m worried.”
Worry.
It was a word with a bit of distance between the two.
‘Why am I worried?’
That thought only lasted a moment. Then an answer came to mind.
It’s probably because her being sick would impose restrictions on their act.
She decided on that conclusion.
As Do Jun’s car, wrapped in silence, was nearing the office, Tae Yeon quickly pointed towards a crosswalk.
“Please let me off up ahead.”
“Do you have somewhere to stop by?”
“No, I think it would be odd if we arrived at work together.”
At her words, Do Jun hesitated for a moment, but then without a word, he changed lanes to the spot Tae Yeon had pointed out.
He let her off there, and then he started his car again without any lingering sentiments.
“Sigh.”
A sigh escaped from Tae Yeon’s red lips.

The only freedom she could have during the roughly 10minute walk to the office.
Her everyday life, which had been so normal, had been thrown off since yesterday.
Feeling the fresh air made her breath, which had been stifling while with Do Jun, clear instantly.
Tae Yeon took her time walking to the office.
She wanted to delay meeting him as much as possible.
((()))((()))((()))
Secretary Choi spoke as she saw Do Jun arrive at work.
“Did you drive yourself to work?”
“Yes.”
“I’ll come to pick you up from tomorrow.”
Do Jun couldn’t readily respond to that.
Until now, Secretary Choi had always accompanied him for his commutes. Receiving reports while commuting was one of Do Jun’s work strategies.
But now, he couldn’t stick to that method. It was because of Tae Yeon.

Upon hearing Secretary Choi’s words, regretfully, the first person to come to his mind was Tae Yeon.
If he commutes with Secretary Choi, Tae Yeon’s discomfort will double, he thought.
And he found it ridiculous that he was thinking such thoughts.
Tae Yeon probably doesn’t even have him in her thoughts, only thinking about flirting with other men.
“She should realize how considerate I’m being.”
“What do you mean?”
“No, nothing. Secretary Choi, you don’t have to worry about my commute for a while.”
At his words, Secretary Choi didn’t ask any further. She judged that he needed time alone with Tae Yeon.
“I understand. The director must know that you’ve entered Korea, so there should be some movement on that side now, shouldn’t there?”
“I suppose so. Tracking is going well in Korea. Look into the guy delivering the phony documents properly.”
“Yes, director.”
Once they identified who it was, they wouldn’t leave them alone. Do Jun made that pledge.
“When is the meeting about the new product?”
“It’s set for two o’clock this afternoon.”
“Alright. You may leave.”
Today at two o’clock. The entire new business team of KK Foods is scheduled to gather for a meeting about the new product.
That meant that he would have to face Tae Yeon’s face then.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
