“Excuse me for a moment, Your Majesty.”

Sion, the Emperor’s personal physician, asked for permission and opened the door to the study. The maids accompanying him carefully placed refined refreshments on the table.

Walter, seated opposite the Emperor, noticed that the tea’s color was subtly different from usual.

“Has something else been added to the tea?”

Sion, impressed by Walter’s keen observation, replied courteously.

“It’s tea leaves roasted together with seasonal Woody berries, as His Majesty requested. They’re exceptionally effective for restoring vitality.”

Right on cue, the Emperor offered Walter a cup, and Walter savored it slowly.

Watching the tender exchange between father and son, Sion felt an unexpected warmth in his heart.

During the height of the Emperor’s critical illness, the study had been filled only with the bitter scent of medicinal decoctions—but now, a fresh and fragrant aroma permeated the air.

‘What would have happened if these two had never known of each other’s existence?’

As a physician who relied on rational judgment to save lives, Sion rarely believed in miracles or fate.

“I’ll serve the same tea to Her Highness the Crown Princess this afternoon. She must be weary from overseeing so many matters.”

Sion bowed his head, recalling Edith buried in books late into the night.
