“A house to comfortably accommodate the lady?”

Startled, Cassius immediately fell in step beside Walter.

Seeing this man sneak out without the lady’s knowledge with such a look in his eyes, it clearly wouldn’t end as an ordinary matter. Only by following him could Cassius either manage the situation or at least grasp how things would unfold.

Thus, they took out two horses and headed straight for Lexion Manor. Even at night, the manor’s glass windows shone like lanterns, vividly showcasing the family’s immense wealth.

By the time they reached the manor, Cassius couldn’t help but be astonished once again.

“What on earth? Three carriages waiting already?”

Judging by the carriages’ size and the number of attendants standing by, it meant three very important guests had dropped by momentarily.

Walter, however, paid it no mind and rode directly toward the gatekeeper.

“I’ve come at Duke Lexion’s invitation.”

“We thank you for accepting the invitation.”

The gatekeeper promptly opened the gate without delay—he’d already received strict instructions to open immediately upon Viscountess Portrion’s or her bodyguard’s arrival.

Walter rode naturally through the gate, his bearing so lordly that Cassius couldn’t help but murmur in admiration.

“He really does have natural dignity.”

Walter, who had been riding at a swift pace, soon spotted Bain and slowed his horse.
