Edith first assessed whether the earlier visitor posed any threat to her.

‘If they were the head of a household wealthy enough to afford a carriage like that, they would have arrived in one bearing their family crest.’

Judging by the mere fact that it was simply a fine carriage, the earlier visitor didn’t seem to be of the household head’s rank. Still, as an important guest, they’d surely be receiving private attention in a proper room.

Moreover, this was an academy where any form of armed conflict was strictly forbidden.

Since she had come prepared for such situations alongside Walter, Edith stood up from her seat instead of retreating in fear.

“Let’s go, Walter. I’ve brought the documents ahead of time, so it won’t take long.”

Edith gathered her bag and stepped into the administrative office. As expected, the earlier visitor had been led into a private room for individual handling, allowing her to carry out her task without worry.

She instructed Walter to wait a few steps behind, then approached an administrative clerk busy with various minor tasks.

“Good afternoon. I’d like to apply for a deferral of enrollment.”

Knowing many academy staff came from lesser nobility, Edith offered polite courtesy without excessive formality.

“Enrollment deferral? Hmm…”

The clerk, Johan, clearly displeased at the prospect of extra work, scrutinized Edith from head to toe.

“What reason do you have for requesting a deferral?”

“I’m getting married. Here, I’ve brought all the necessary documents.”

Every document Edith had prepared was flawless and complete.
