Edith deliberately turned her steps toward the most secluded corner of the garden. She sensed him following, yet still couldn’t believe it.

How on earth did Benjamin end up here?

Edith stopped in the deserted spot and turned to confirm his face. Judging by the way he, too, was scrutinizing her expression, it didn’t seem like anyone else had come.

“Edith… It’s been a while.”

“Benjamin, what are you doing here? Weren’t you supposed to be working as a journalist in the capital?”

Benjamin was one of Director Homann’s proudest achievements.

Ever since childhood, he had shut himself away in the library reading books, and shortly after reaching adulthood, he finally became an official reporter for , the largest newspaper in the Agnes Empire, and moved his residence to the capital.

At first, Benjamin had only covered a minor disturbance at the capital’s outskirts cemetery, but soon his passion earned him recognition, and he began handling increasingly significant topics.

“Benjamin, your last article was probably—”

“About the succession conflict between the Imperial Family and House Lexion. One of my articles even made the front page.”

Seeing Benjamin’s rare, proud demeanor only deepened Edith’s confusion.

If he was a reporter important enough to warrant front-page coverage, why was he here at Viscount Portrion’s estate, far from the capital?

Sensing Edith’s doubt, Benjamin asked back with an air of having his own questions.

“Uncle contacted me. He said you’d suddenly vanished, even though you’ve never been late to the clinic before. What exactly happened?”

Edith was grateful for his concern about her situation, yet also worried.
